Forward mounting?

alright i am pretty sure my eyes arent playing tricks on me but i have seen photos of simon dumont and pk hunder where it appears that their bindings are farther forward than center. is this at all ideal unless you ride switch 24/7? and also both these athletes ride non symetrical twins( PE, dumonts) sowouldnt it be better to mount these skis backwards as well as forward?

I think that it's an optical illusion because when you look at the toe piece it makes it seem as if the boot is further forward than it really is. I get this sometimes. Looking at my skis or my friends' skis I sometimes think that they are mounted too far forward but it is just an optical illusion. I would assume that Simon and PK are mounted true center.

no simon and olsson mount forward of center. you get more pop out of the tail and its better switch. a shop tech i know said he rode dumonts mounted at simons position once, and it actually wasn't bad.

They both definately do not, from some angles true center can look forward of center, but I gurranty their boot center is not in front of the ski center.

i have friends that swear by it, it makes 'em feel a shit ton heavier. . . . .

whatever floats your boat

there are so many arguements about forward, center,an back. . . .idk who to believe

i like backkk personally

You are wrong. please do a little research before you post and look like a retard

they both do foward mount

Even the very own NS Slandis fowards mounts and swears by it

At true center, it appears that you have more tail than nose because the heel piece takes up less room on the ski than the toes piece, but just because your skis are centered doesn't mean the tip and tail are even, it means the middle of your boot is at the middle of the ski.

this kid at my shop made custom skis and mounted them like +2 from true center, he apparently likes the feel going switch although he said they don't work going forwards, whatever floats his boat. i heard of dumont mounting one pair in front of center but i'm pretty sure he doesn't do that anymore

i don't see what bringing up Slandis is supposed to do, from what i've seen, it looks like he should probably start mounting them center or rear.

i can see how it would help with riding and landing switch, but it's probably detrimental in every other way

Pros:

Longer tails = easier tail grabs

Longer tails = easier switch riding/landing

Longer tails = more stability and pop

Shorter tips = easier nose grabs

Shorter tips = easier butters

Neutral:

Adds a bit of weight to the ski, which can be good if you're on super light skis; it all comes down to preference.

Looks cooler (!)

Cons:

Bad for powder

Skis don't fit in ski racks as easily

It's really not that crazy of an idea. People have been doing it for a while...

I know for a FACT that simon dumont does have his skis forward mounted. I found out about it in an article in ski presse last year. he center mounts them about 1 cm if im not mistaken

Due to a shop error I have my park skis at 1cm ahead of center. It's really no different from true center. They suck in powder, but so does true center... they're nice switch though.

Didn't Pep mount race skis backwards at one time?

I know people who have mounted skis forward, but pretty much only for training. If its your only pair of skis,I would suggest center being the furthest forward. If you have skis to blow, mount them forward for the hell of it.
