ya fortunes alright, but they really really need to hire someone to work a good park and they should always leave it on the same fucking hill. icy landings suck.

damn gay fortune they really need to step up their park, so many people were gettin hurt on that gay table last year over shooting the landing. My brother especially breaking his thumb. It sucked.

fortuuuune is ok, but yeah they do need a better park, the best thing about that place is i rode there like 4 times last year and didnt buy a lift pass once. they dont care, or theyre just really stupid and if you get caught just go to a different chair and try and ride it, the trick is to just sit in the middle of every one and to go at night.

 
Hey guys..I am a ski patroller at Camp Fortune, and I feel I need to make a comment here. I agree the Fortune park needs work, but managment does not feel there is as much public support for a park as there is for more ski racer programs, and as much as it sucks, seems like the racers run the hill. But I see thier point..2 years ago, when fortune had a pipe, kids didnt buy tickets, just hiked the pipe, so management spent extra $ and didnt make any extra in return. Thats part of the reason why no pipe/small crappy park since....managment is reluctant to shell out $ if they dont see any extra profits in the future.

So with regards to trmblanttrippers comment...if you want a better park, you gotta buy ticks, as much as it sucks to shell out $. Also, instead of bitchin on this site, call fortune, (819) 827-1717

and let them know you support a bigger, better park. And for cryin out loud, dont boast about how you scam skiing without paying for a ticket and then whine that the park sucks! GEEEZ!!! SKI HILLS ARE NOT YOUR MOMMA, THEY DONT GIVE YOU SOMETHIGN FOR NOTHING!!!!!

Fortune management does not want to run the hill like the Intrawest militants at Tremblant, they want a FAMILY atmosphere without some uniformed Nazi checkin your pass every 10 seconds. So please kids, buy a frikin pass, have fun,suppoort your local mom and pop resorts and SKI SAFE, SKI HARD!!!!!

Kids like you are WHY food is overpriced, every time you steal soemthing, they have to jack up prices to make the same profit. I agree food is expensive, but take from your momma, not from the hills!!! they are jsut trying to make money liek everyone else, and i would sure rather support aa mom and pop operation than a fat cat like Intrawest. right so first off the food isnt overpriced because people steal, its because they need to make profits, and they do. Since a lot of people are too lazy to bring a lunch and cant really bring poutine nice and hot they can jack the prices up because the demand is there. if they dont want people to still lower the prices and they will so that there profits will raise. the other thing is that Fortune is blind and ignorant. It is quite obvious to them that there is public support, look at all the the movies that have been made when it comes to snowboarding and freestyle skiing. how many movies have been made on ski racing? seriously and if they were like your normal ski hill, they would realise that putting a half decent park, maintained every day, would bring in my kids are age, who would by more tickets,more poutine and dramatically increase profits. look at the other hills like vorlage calabogie edelwiss( however its spelt) and cascade, they all have fairly nice parks for this area of quebec. and they still have a family atmosphere. its time fortune realises the demands of skier and snowboarders alike. they are still living in the past.

 
^you have to understand though that the money is in racing. parents of racers shell out thousands and thousands each year for racing programs, seasons passes, equipment, and travel expenses. us jibbers still spend a lot of money, but not nearly as much as racers do. the hills know this, and develop a snooty attitude towards us (and snowboarders to an extent), wondering why we expect them to pay for our features on their hills when they have their racing programs to take care of. they are sponsored, or funded by racing companies to a certain extent as well, so they almost have to do what they are asked. this is why fortune will never change for the better.

Camp fortune is super messed up last year they built a horrible park and then dont even maintain it throughout the winter they mayby groomed it once or twice. Why can't they just builde a jump like they had for the huck and chuck comp. last year and add in a couple more rails. I recently read skier magazine and there was a little bit on fortune and it wasn't that positive regarding the park.

 
fi was trick-o-treatin today and i was near sudermanns house the guy who owns the place felt like going over there a tellin him what i want but he lives in a maze of roads and i couldn't find his house. also at the ski show the fortue booth gave me crap luike the only reason we dont have the best parks is because of the snow conditions and shit like that. i beleive it is way over priced 6$ dollars for a hunk o french fries and fat fuckin rediculous. and mr. ski patroller all you do is ruin peoples fun. sure your there when someones hurt but other than that all you guys do is block off jumps that are built and cut peoples lift tickets.

 
I'm also a patroller at fortune (there's a few of us in here) and last year I tried explaining to Bob Suderman that building a pipe and park were super important. Unfortunately, it was new years eve and it basically came out as a, 'let me tell you how to run a ski hill you big baloney'.

Anyway his reply is that racing is the #1 priority because that's what makes money. If you guys want a decent park and pipe you have to call fortune and demand that they build it or you will get a seasons pass from somewhere that does. (as a side note bob told me that fortune doesn't really need a park and pipe because mont saint marie has one. nice excuse)

The reason that Fortune's park and pipe plus it's conditions in general suck is that it is in the best interest of the head of outdoor operations shawn to save money. He is not a fortune employee but a contractor who is given a lump sum, and whatever he has left at the end of the season is his. (the less he does and spends the more money he makes) Shawn and the suderman's dirty little deal is the main reason that fortune's conditions suck.

Keep that in mind if you ever get hurt there. Sue there asses off if your injury was because the conditions sucked or the employees weren't trained.

Scott shmidt once said, 'anyone who sues a ski resort should be shot.' I think if he skied at fortune he'd change his mind.

^yo your making some sense. i should've sued there asses a few years ago when i broke my wrist on the jump that was all icy and had a few grass patches on it.

 
god! i just find it fuckign frustrating. how can i develope my freestyle skills if they arent good SAFE, maintained jumps??? fortune should really really read this forum.

That for some of the idiots who post on here. Of course some patrollers think they are cops, the 'fun police', but that does not warrant an ignorant comment like 'all you do is wreck our fun mr ski patroller', any more than me calling a jibber a little punk park rat who cant ski, or saying that rails and jibbing arent really skiing,is warranted. Patrollers are on the hill while your still in your warm bed makin it safe to open, and were on it long after you leave.

Anyone who skiis fortune on a weekday or night should know that the patrol there does not block off jumps, were hitting them and going bigger than most of the punks on here. And if a jump is blocked off, its cuz too many idiots are jumping blind or pulling some other dumb moves. IF YOU GET HURT, I HAVE TO WORK, AND THAT MEANS I CANT SKI.

And If you want a better park at Fortune, dont bitch on here, call Customer service, and then buy a pass!

And stop bitching about over priced food, yeah of course it is overpriced..its a ski hill. You ever skiied tramblant recently??? thats over priced!!!

Right now the racers run Fortune, cuz thats where the money is. Management sees new school skiiers as irresponsible, when Fortune built a pipe, no one bought tickets, everyone just hiked the pipe.

SO if you kids wanna change the hill, its up to you to change the negative image that management has of jibbers. Thats my rant for now, peace.

only thing that i can say for fortune really is that they should re-groom their landings for night skiing... since schools and stuff go mostly for night skiing, or even on weekends for night skiing, i think it'd be nice for them to chop up the landing a bit so people DON'T get hurt as much. ice sucks.

LAST YEAR WE HAD 750 accidents we were called to respond to at Fortune alone. Do the math.... say 100 skiing days, thats 7.5 accidents a day...thats a lot man..mostly kids that think they can ski and cant and pull dumb stuff. So thats why jumps are closed. One we get 2 concussions in an hour off a hit, we close it...even if you wear a lid and can huck safely, if some one is getting hurt, sorry, we gotta close it. Until there is fenced off park with soemone paid to make sure idiots dont go in it, thats the nature of the beast. They have 'park police at tremblant, but tremblabnt isnt 15 minutes from ottawa, and a ticket isnt 30 bucks.

And YES, Fortune SHOULD groom at 4 oclock, Weve been saying that for years, its their cheap opereations manager that is resisting. PLEASE, call Fortune customer service, (819) 827-1717, let them know you want them to groom before night skiing, let them know you want a park and a pipe. Thats the only thing that will get them to change, the public requesting it. Right now the mountian is run by the racers cuz they bring in the cash. If newschoolers call and request a park and pipe, and then BUY TICKETS instead of scamming free rides, we might see a change.

i always thought a lift tickit was to use the lifts, if your not using the lifts why buy a lift ticket?
