Fortune Park Input?

pierce, considering you are in austria, you sound quite bitter as of late.

a friend of mine was just telling me that because of higher gas prices or for whatever other reason, people weren't pre-booking hotels and passes nearly as much as previous years. im suuuure that intrawest has plenty of money, especially since they dropped like 678 billion on all that new lodging they want to build.

but did you notice how much tremblant related mail/email you got? people just arent as down to drive 2 hours to an overpriced resort with these gas prices.

which is also why the 4x4 was up in the air for the longest time, blah blah blah.

either way, this is about fortune and not trembs.

Yeah, never thought of it that way Fortune is way closer and what can i say everyone knows its been stepping up huge, i am just excited for what is gunna happen this year.

Another big thing, too, is the exchange on the dollar. Tremblant gets a LOT of American tourists, and since our dollar is strong, a lot of those tourists won't be coming to Tremblant.

well, get rid of the ice around the features. I seperated my shoulder landing badly onto some ice last year. Also the table was worthless. The run needs to be wider so it annot accomodate more feautures. Last year is all the park could hold without making it cramped. I would liek a down flat box and a skier friendly rainbow and spine and up box, a 8 foot high flat box where the take offended below the box but launched you up onto it would be so sick.

i think that if there was a little begginer park with some shitty jumps and ride ons and stuff of pinault alot of the ski school traffic would be taken care of

ok, if it is on Marshall again...it would be cool if there were boxes and rails at the top, followed by a jump, and then mabe a bigger jump in the middle...is there going to be a halfpipe this year?

i think flow is asking for way too much. Plus, what good is flow when there are line ups for features.

More street setup rails, boxes with landings not 3 foot drop-offs like last year and a pipe is cool. Is Mike Hull still running the park?

Step up gap box or somethin like it, i was going to be reasonable but alot of peeps are shooting for the stars here and knowing what its like trying to beat funding out of a hill for a park you need to think more reasonably

A few nice tables and a run in that you can get more speed on. You could have multiple jumps with one huge nole. That way, someone (like me)could go huge, while people learning to go off switch or biggining their freestyle career could have a smaller jump closer to the nole!

A nice hip and quarterpipe on the bottom of Marshal would be nice too.

well mabe, but what about those of us that are there during the week and don't worry about lift lines?

yeah a lot more variety of jumps...like spines, and different sizes and shit

a titanic box would be sweet

a huge quartepipe would be sick as well..

half pipe and small to large jumps so its easy to for people to progress

better to use the whole run so its not so cramped

daaaave all that's necessary is a maintained pipe and several rails, and if possible a well maintained line of jumps with a big one at the end

I'd like to see a few things like a rollercoaster box or a step up box. My buddy and I are building a 24' step up box and it's such a sick jib, Fortune should get one. maybe an S rail or one of those "anaconda" boxes, whatever you wanna call them. Possibly a rainbow, with a gap at the top if possible.

For those of you who dont know, step up box:

well for me the best half pipe fortune ever had was four years ago on the upper skiiers left of pineault. the best jump was from three years ago, the one midway down skiiers right on pineau, which was followed up by a clearable spine as noted by joel. i saw dave c. jump of the chairlift onto the takeoff of that shit, probly my favorite fortune moment to date. as far as keeping crowds out, dont forget about alexandre and macdonald. those hills have sooo much potential. i think the ideal park would see a jump line being built on skiiers left of upper clifford, with a rail park skiiers left on lower clifford/peewee. this would eliminate crowding around rails, and clifford is a harder run so kids wouldnt be going into the park. i know the racers train there, but when i raced we were always trying to get slalom for training, so maybe with one group pushing for the racers hill space, the sudermans/frank bernier would be more willing to allocate hill space on slalom. as for new features i would like to see this year, a bigger flat rail, a down box, and a flat down flat box. i think you could fit three jumps on upper clifford easily, 20, 30 and 45 ft. money.

2 tables in a row. and a nice big flat down rail? the park should have as much flow as possible to stop alot of crowding

you can get those downtown, why go to fortune.

give us something the city of ottawa DOESN'T offer.

like....free crack!

ahahahaha.

and no im not bitter darina i was just saying that is rediculous to say that intrawest doesnt have enough money for something.

heli-skiing would be pretty dope tho.

it seems the park is in good shape untill the little kids and raccers/beginer snowboarders come in and stop on all the lips/ride of the side of jumps. its soooo annoying.
