and on a side note I have been watching the SKY streams since I can't understand enough of RTL's coverage yet here in Germany, and they use McLarens race guides as one of the intro videos (as if SKY isn't biased towards McLaren enough), anyhow, I've found this little videos really cool, heres the one for Korea!

He's back.

I love hearing Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit at the end of a Grand Prix, have heard it three GP's in a row. I never doubted him, and he looks like, short of mechanical failures, like he will win it.

As a Vettel fan, and as a person who isn't so keen with Mclaren, Korea was an absolutely fantastic race.

With the start of the race Vettel taking the lead from his teammate in a pretty damn exciting fashion, and Button (although the more likeable Mclaren driver in my opinion) gets taken out in the first lap. Then later on in the race Hulkenburg made what I though was an absolutely fantastic pass on Hamilton and Grosjean. And with Massa getting a 4th position finish, and having the speed to possibly have competed with Webber for second if not for team orders to not pass Alonso, it would be really cool to finally have 2 competitive Ferrari's in the field.

Anyone else really impressed by Hulkenburg's pass?
 
They made it so fucking obvious, "you're getting dangerously close to alonso, lets keep the gap 3 seconds". I mean really its the right decision because Alonso needs the points, but notes should be taken that Massa has looked impressive lately, if not for a poor qualifying effort, who says he couldn't have easily had second, maybe challenging for the win? He had the speed.
 
He definitely might have! It's really almost impossible to know how bad Vettel's tires were at the end, this article makes it seem like they were telling Vettel to slow down extra just because they knew if they didn't Vettel would just keep pushing. If the tires were as bad as they made it sound, then Massa could have definitely had a chance for 2nd, or possibly first

I hate Vettel with a passion due to his mannerisms and that finger.

Also last season it came down to having an incredibly fast car.

And that fucking annoying finger.
 
Well yes, but thats what made Schumacher win over half his titles....and Senna...and a lot of drivers that were with the top teams. However they still whooped their teammates asses who were in the same car. Hes a very talented and skilled individual, and hes been my favorite since his amazing win in Monza in 08'. Plus I am German, so I thats another reason why I root for him. Looks like he'll take three championships in a row, and I'm really happy for him, the sky is the limit to where he can go in the record books right now. He's already 7th on the all time win list.
 
I'm not questioning his skills I just don't like his mannerisms, and the Red Bull car has been amazing the past seasons. But a great car can really help a driver, remember Button with Brawn, Button is good, excellent in the rain but no 'real championship driver. I currently think that in terms o skills Alonso is best although he did have some bad luck last two races.
 
Well I'd say I partially agree with you on Button. Look at last year, aside from Sebastians dominance, who was the clear #2? Button. I think with McLaren more built around him, he has a chance at a 2nd title before he retires. I think that there are three drivers that stand out.

Alonso-Simply I think the best driver, not far above Vettel, but he does amazing things with a car that isnt the best. Vettel-Has a great combination of team, car, driver, that is why he is dominant, however I think it is also important to remember that he is close to the level of Alonso, at only age 25.

Hamilton-Personally, I think the most talented, fast driver, BUT he has too many personal issues and isnt focused enough to be a championship contender every year. Every drivers mentality is "winning, winning, winning" his seems more like "winning, personal life, looking cool, money, etc." and that just doesn't cut it to be the best.

Also Kimi and Button are quite elite drivers not far behind these three, then Kubica, who is like Hamilton in how talented he is, however who knows if he will return to an F1 car.
 
I don't think Schumi came out of the pits.

Kimi is insane on SPA, he carries so much more speed throughout eau Rouge.

And he often goes for gaps that don't seem to exist.

I'm pretty sure that he wasn't coming out of the pits because the lap before Kimi got around Michael, but then Michael passed him back in the DRS zone

Like I said though, I'm not 100% sure on that
 
Anybody else a little bit pissed with Mercedes? Ross Brawn's gotta be livid with the Nicki Lauda decision

Who knows what goes on behind the scenes but I feel like hiring Schumacher for the job Nicki got would have been the right decision
 
Huge win for The Iceman, so excited for him. Today was probably the best race of the season. Absolutely incredible drive by Vettel as well. Well played interview by him too, swearing and pouring water on poor Coultard.

I'm off to Austin in 2 weeks for the GP, so excited, let's hope it's as good as this one!
 
absolutely insane race.

I decided to get into F1 this season and with races like that it hasn't been hard.
 
I love Kimi.

Not only that but go to :37 seconds here, and 3:55 if you want to see Vettel drop the F-Bomb with a giant grin.

Overall though, super exciting race, best of the season, Vettel did have luck with safety cars, but there is no denying he didnt deserve the position he got, making an extra pitstop, one of which being 10 seconds because of a front wing change, and moving up to where he did, champions drive, which is why I believe he will win again. Viel Glück Sebastian, von deinen Deutschen Nachbarn! :D
 
haha I was thinking this too a few days ago, kinda ironic that Kimi won in a dry country, so I'm guessing as soon as he got out of there he went to party!
 
I guess I was wrong, apparently Kimi posted a photo of him at a party with a beer in his hand, Lotus was not so pleased with him drinking in a dry country haha

So what is everyone's prediction for Interlagos? Vettel should close it out, but at Interlagos there is always an opportunity for the insane, remember 2007 and 2008. Forecast says wet, should be an exciting race weekend. Also, really hoping that Kimi can hold on to P3 in the DC.
 
I know, I'm just disappointed it works. I suppose at least some people are smart enough to realize that the brand is just a sponsor.

It really comes down to money. Whatever team has the money to spend on R&D and tech and drivers is usually the team that wins, not unlike the America's Cup.

 
In general, yes, but it also really depends on people, Mercedes is plugging in huge doll hairs and were never really competitive after the first couple races, but yes R&D is probably the most crucial thing in F1, as it comes down to who can be fast down the stretch, such as Red Bull this year.
 
Well, hold on a second. RBR uses Renault engines. Renault owns Nissan, whom owns Infinity. I'm sure Infinity or Nissan have designed something in the past that has influenced the way that Renault makes the engine. So, It's not a total hoax. They probably have contributed to something on that race car.

Lotus Renault is the one that doesn't make any sense. Renault does everything on the F1 car. Lotus is just a titles sponsor and has no partnership at all with Renault.
 
Here's a link to the FIA F1 entry list for the 2013 season, HRT is gone, which is really not that big of a deal to me, but Lotus hasn't confirmed anything for their second spot. I think they should try and get Hulkenburg. Grosjean was good for the first part of the year, but once Kimi caught stride, he made Grosjean look mediocre at best, and Grosjean just turned into a wrecking machine.
 
There are talks that Kobayashi could get a ride in that lotus spot for next year. He has been raising tons of money from M fans in Japan. Not to mention, Kobayashi is a much more consistent driver than Grosjean and than Perez last year. I think lotus would be smart to take him.
 
I always thought that Perez was an amazing driver with the podiums this year, then realized that his performances were more based on strategy, than himself.
 
Well, he still had to drive really well to do those performances. I was just talking from a consistency stand point. Kamui was in the points quite a bit more often than Sergio. Had Sergio not gotten one of those top 3's, he would have finished behind Kamui in the points.

Kamui ate his favourite food this evening, at his favourite restaurant near his home in Japan. Just did some back ground check on Japanese websites. That means he has signed a contract apparently. Waiting and hoping that it is Lotus.
