Former Marine Shot 60 Times by SWAT Team

Fucking scum got what he deserved, I hate how everyone always jumps to blaming the cops. as they are only doing their jobs. Clearly they knew the guys history, that's why they brought the ammunition. There is no telling what someone who could possibly have PTSD can do. probably did it then because it was convenient to the investigation as they had to do simultaneous hits and it was out of the public. Fucking cops can't win.

"The man shot and killed by Pima County SWAT officers was linked to a home-invasion crew, the attorney representing the officers said Thursday.

Michael Storie said authorities found rifles, hand guns, body armor and a portion of a law enforcement uniform inside the house where Jose Guerena was shot by officers serving a search warrant May 5."

"The raid took place at about 9:30 a.m. and Guerena, 26, was asleep after working the graveyard shift at Asarco Mission mine, Guerena’s wife said.

Storie said once parked outside the home, the lights and sirens were turned off. An officer banged on the door for about 45 seconds while identifying themselves as police, he said.

After that, five SWAT members broke in the front door and saw Guerena holding a rifle at the end of a long hallway.

One officer began shooting after Guerena placed the rifle in front of him and said “I’ve got something for you, I’ve got something for you guys,” Storie said."

Yep...this guy sounds like a real winner.

haha i like how we got to an argument of anarchy.but anyways Who grabs an assault rifle to investigate a strange noise? hahaI would of shot the shit out of him too

idk the RCMP are kinda dumb asses, but BC rcmp hate us albertans in Invermere BC cuz its almost all Calgarians there and people just get too fucking drunk and start fights

No. Police officers put there lives in jeopardy every day to protect you. If you wanna point a military grade assault rifle at them they will shoot you back. Why? because far to many cops have lost there lives by waiting and waiting and boom. Point gun at a cop? you betta be ready for the consquneces. But i do agree that SWAT should have made there presence known.

Killing is never right, and I don't mean to say that this was in any way justified, but let's not forget that this murdered man participated in the slaughter of Iraqi civilians.

I'm sure this guy was not the Real American Hero that so many of you want to picture him as.

Remember, they were serving a search warrant at the time, with the SWAT team no less. The man was clearly considered a threat to begin with and reasonable evidence had been stacked against him already to exact a search warrant.

Everyone wants to put this guy on a pedestal because he served in the military. For many poor or uneducated people, the military is nothing more than a means to an end. Just because he was in the military does not mean that it is impossible that the man was committing violent crimes.

And bottom-line, if you point a firearm at a police officer, safety or no safety, loaded or unloaded, odds are pretty good that you will be breathing your last breaths. ESPECIALLY if the weapon you are brandishing is an assault rifle.

The first thing I do when I hear sounds outside my house is grab my 9mm and put a round in the chamber.

I am sure there are faults on both sides but even if this guy was a hard core heroine dealer the way the police reacted was deplorable.

If you believe the story:

He never fired a round

They let him die without medical attention

That is not the work of someone assigned to protect the public, that is a government sponsored killing of a citizen without due process. All those cops should be at the very least fired.

How many times has your house been raided and cops are all around your house? your fist reaction is to protect yourself. And that i terrible, my thoughts are with him and his family.

if you think his being "a real winner" excuses the complete lack of accountability, transparency, and due process of the cops, or the firing of 71 bullets against 0, that's retarded

Team probably had around 8 guys on it. That's only 8-9 shots a person. The rifles they used were probably either 3 shot bursts, or they fire with double taps. It's not like it was one guy, with a bolt action rifle firing off 71 shots one by one.

The guy had an assault rife. I'm sure the SWAT team knew beforehand that they guy owned assault weapons, and were on a higher alert.

That being said, 71 does seem like a lot. But lets be real, 1 shot or 71 shots, the end is EXACTLY the same. Point a gun at a cop, end your life.

well if he'd been shot once, they probably would have finished up clearing the house, then gotten him medical attention.

At 60 times though...there's really no amount of medical attention that's going to help you. Especially since the SWAT team probably shot him in the chest/torso area. Actually, the odds that this guy was alive long enough to know what happened are probably pretty low.

I KNOW! IN ALL MY TIMES PLAYING CALL OF DUTY I HAVE NEVER MISTAKEN WOODCHIPS FOR BULLETS!!!!111

implying that is was a mistake? are you kidding, they shot at him 71 times after he had laid down his rifle in front of him

Just wanna throw my personal pig story out there. So my friends bro used to sell heroine and ish. Not like big time but enough to warrant some notice from the DEA. So they sent the city police in on a raid, they failed to say they were the police so the dad came at them with a golf club and they took him down but didn't shoot. And one of the cops shot his own finger off.

Then the same city police charged my friend who has had a few run-ins with them with cocaine possession. They claimed they searched the patrol car after he got out and found a bag. He is sort of poor so he doesn't have any money for a lawyer to fight it so he's pleading guilty. Fuck the Enumclaw Police Dpt. But I have respect for most police. /rant

there are quite a few rigths being violated.i just dont like this this is the main reason i dont like cops because most abuse their ..jobs. and by the way if theres someone running around out side im grabbing my ar 15\im not going to say fuck cops its just this when theres to many trigger happy people in one room people die.

exactly, the only thing worse than people who can only say FUCK THE COPS are the people who categorically take their side in things like this. most cops (especially that ive dealt with) are good people working to serve their community, but if you don't think a good portion of them are of questionable motives and behaviors, youre painfully naive

I feel like it is probably inaccurate to say most abuse their job. Sure some do, but there are probably more who dont. The reason it may seem like a lot do is because those are the only ones you hear people bitching about.

You never hear a story like

"i was walking down the street and a cop drove past me and didnt do anything"

Did they read him his miranda rights? The court provides a lawyer (public defender) if you can't afford one.

How many times has YOUR house been raided by the police? You make yourself sound like you have had some experience in this.

my one Admin Justice class last semester was taught by a cop that worked in downtown Pittsburgh and explained a situation similar to this one (at least the bullet count)... what happens is every police personal fires because if you take the time to think or communicate to a certain number of individuals to fire a cop could lose their life, so divide 71 by every cop that could see him, and im assuming they had automatic weapons, say 5 cops see him, each holds the trigger on their automatic weapon in for 3 seconds, thats prob more than 71 bullets...
