That (being able to know some of the thought process behind dinosaur naming) and knowing the semi-amusing literal translation of various medical terms is one of the only benefits of studying classical greek.
 
imagine how crazy it would be if dinosaurs were still alive? instead of wild deer coming through your backyard you just had those massive things
 
If you guys read the article you would understand that the Jurassic park scene is still based on fact. The "brontosaurus" didn't "exist" in terms of it was already a discovered and named dinosaur. A paleontologist found a more complete fossil skeleton which was larger than the original skeleton of the apatosaurus which was found by an alternate paleontologist.

Brontosaurus is just another (far cooler) name for an apatosaurus. They're still big as fuck dinosaurs that very much existed. Your childhood dreams can live another day people.
 
I face palmed so hard reading this. IT IS IN THE ARTICLE hahahahaha All I did was reiterate what the article said because OP's title mislead everyone. THEY EXISTED THE ORIGINAL NAME ISN'T BRONTOSAURUS
 
I know this might be a shock, but all dinosaurs are is our best guess of how these bones might go, what they might look like, and what they might have done.
