Force to break skis

unless you are ridiculously heavy you will probably fall over before breaking them. But, it is possible. I am 200 lbs and I ride my tails pretty far back sometimes and they are fine. you have a lot of questions don't you?

I dream of winter.

yeah i do. doesnt mean i suck at skiing though. not like i just started. i just never thought about all the technical aspects. skiing is over for me this season so the most i can do is ask questions and learn more stuff

it is very difficult to break skis. you won't be able to do it just by flexing them or buttering them. you pretty much need to land really backseat or frontseat on some kind of large air in order to have a shot at breaking them.

my level of radness... it just can't... be quantified.

You would pop out of your bindings before you would break a ski as stiff as the mike nicks.

Or tear the binding out.

to break a ski normally you need tremendous amounts of pressure hitting the ski all at one time, so unless you are insanely obese you shood be ok with just leaning back a tiny bit farther than usual.

its good to ask questions, im still that way...and i do suck at skiing lol....but it would be super hard to break a ski by just leaning back unless you were fat like the guy said above...the amount of force would have to be dropping like 50 ft out of the air onto flat ice or sumthin...lol its dam hard

I wish i was a gangster

are they new? if they are i beleive its just the wood in ur skis getting use to being flexible...wood and crackin is normal...it could be edges to if im not wrong? but that wont be bad either cuz i think it once again is made to do that

I wish i was a gangster

One time at the shop I work at, 3 of us decided we were going to break an old snowboard in half. 30mins later all we broke was a sweat after putting all our weight into flexing it in half. It's hard as hell to break skis in half.

That cracking sound you are hearing is the fiberglass wrap.

it would be real easy to break a pair of mike nicks cause there so soft if you really rip you could break them just making a turn but the average person will need to crash pretty hard to break a pair of skis

unless they have been used a shitload, the core's of skis get stress fractures from normal use because of chattering and buttering, if there used enough they they get weak, thats why skis over time get softer. SO in conclusion if there used a lot they yes you can break them by buttering them. But i agree with bret ( ride1080) you cant break a normal new ski bu butttering inless your a super fat fuck over 300

i know a guy that is about that weight^, and has a habit of dropping 50 ft cliffs. completely destroys skis, seveal pairs a season

^no

but it would be fun to take a pair of old skis and saw through them part way then lean on your tails and snap them

hsfc was talking about the old mike nicks. The 04/05 mike nick was quite stiff by twin tip standards. Not as stiff as the Skogen.
