For you religious NS'ers

Dunno why it seems that everyone in this thread feels the need to make it their problem what other people believe in. Idk if any of you realize this but I doubt an Atheist will change their mind about their beliefs over a post from an angry teenager on a ski forum. I also doubt a religious person would do the same. So theres really no point in babbling back and forth over how much of an idiot or a "dumb dumb"-(casual) they are for what they chose to believe.

Your beliefs are cool, every person is entitled to believe what they want to, whatever it may be. Its okay to talk openly about differences in beliefs as long as your respectful. But don't try and put people who think differently to shame. I think you're a pretty big dumb dumb if your mind is so closed to the rest of the world that you feel the need to put down someone elses beliefs because they're different from yours.

If you read some of the post we are discussing. There was a Christian dude asking about what non believers were thinking. I was raised Catholic and somewhere down the line the light went off in my head it was bullshit. I'm happy there was resources out there to help me smell the bullshit.

I've read the thread. Like I said, if you read what I wrote, you can talk about it respectfully. To explain what you believe etc is good, that kind of respectful interaction should be able to happen between any people of any faith or no faith. Its when people start calling religion stupid or bullshit, because by calling religion stupid- you're basically calling a religious person stupid. When you say that religion is bullshit- you're telling that person that a large part of their life is bullshit. It may be your honest opinion, but theres more respectful less ignorant ways to share that. Theres no need to try and validate yourself by de-validating someone else.

Same goes for religious people. No need to tell an atheist, or even a person of another religion that they're wrong to believe what they want. You're beliefs shouldnt effect how you treat people.

Honestly the new pope is doing some major work for the reputation of christianity.

Churches promote doing good to others, but many also push against critical thinking, push against people who believe different things, push against and sometimes hate gay people.

Once in a while you encounter one of those badass religious dudes that doesn't judge, has their beliefs, is down to tell you about them if you're interested, but doesn't try and force stuff on you. Those people are doing huge things for their religions, unfortunately you don't see that many of them.

Many religious people judge harder than anyone else. With all the churches I've been through I always thought that was insane. Look at me I'm better than you. Or I feel sorry for you. I feel that's the mentality behind a lot of the missions as well. Spreading the truth to these savages.

I've run into far more assholes with religion than genuinely good people. They may have done some good things but they weren't good people IMO. And the kinds of people that I've mentioned were in no way outliers of the religion, these are your standard christian type person here in America.

Nothing can disprove your god, you realize if I made up a person today, said I beloved in him and gave him the same attributes you gave. I also could believe I never lost argument and my faith is strong because I made him into a person that has unlimited potential to do anything forever. See how easy it was to make that up, now it must be real. All hail DAVE!

You're absolutely right. You could assert that and believe yourself to be right. The only thing is is that there is no evidence for that god. What I'm getting at is historical evidence. Sure you could say your god created everything but there is no grounds to base it on. In my case I have the Bible with which to argue for the existence of my god. And, I know many disagree but I fail to see why, the Bible has never been proven historically inaccurate. In fact, the more we study history and dig up new artifacts, which occurs almost daily in Israel, the more the Bible can be viewed as being historically sound.

Here's an article on how the Bible can actually be trusted and is historically accurate.

But since there are other religions with their own holy books how can we know that there is only one true religion? This article addresses that question very well.

And if you're interested to learn more that question check out Jesus Among Other gods by Ravi Zacharias.

LOOOOOL no its not it has been disproven some many times I don't know how you can sit there and say it is the word of god. watch about 5 minutes or all of it.

I watched the first 10 minutes and yes it was very interesting and yes very convincing. Since Richard Carrier touched on the resurrection of Jesus I'll post Dr. William Lane Craig's take on it.

Also the two have debated before.

This video is just the debate-

This is the debate with Q&A, though I'm sure you wouldn't enjoy the title of this version of the debate but it's the one I found in its entirety-

Also I apologize for the videos not being embedded, I'm currently mobile.

What did Jesus do in the middle of his life? He had an epic birth was doing this and that. He was kicking it at the temple when he was about 12 then boom he vanishes for a while, goes into the witness protection program, then shows up to do a few magic tricks and face his execution date.

I'm gonna be honest man, it is a lot easier to just have faith in Christianity than to fight it. Some people need that set of rules to stop from going ape shit. It wasn't until I was taught to expand my mind and have my own opinions that I realized ohhhhhh shit, everything I was taught was folklore. But, hey if that keeps people from killing each other than that's fine. But then you get people who don't think for themselves and just agree with team Christian. One, because they're simple minded and it's easier to have someone tell you what to do. Two, Catholic guilt. They make people feel bad and get scared so they listen.

I must admit it's so much more comforting to just have faith that the afterlife is paradise. Well I got news for Christians, this is paradise. Some Christians may think the whole Muslims getting 72 virgins thing is ridiculous. Not anymore ridiculous than thinking that confessing your sins to God and he'll let you through those gates to be reunited with your first dog and your grandma. That's not going to happen. But, the taught makes me smile :)
