For those who judge LINE

I just posted this in another thread but it deserves its own, since alot of people dont know whats up when it comes to why LINE deserves props.

Im sick of hearing people on this site bash LINE day in and day out. every ski LINE makes is so specialized and different they have a very small market. Jay seems to like to keep things small and core. LINE could be a big company but what have they done years before everyone else.

1. made the first twin with equal tip and tail

2. the first rider orientated company, with rider influence on skis and graphics. the first ski company with graphics for that matter.

3. made the first promodel skis for their riders

4. made the 1st park specific twin (no race ro mogul influence)

5. made the first fat twin (now an industry norm)

and now they are stepping up each year with new shit. I dont ride line, I have and I enjoy their skis. Jay Levinthal is not someone this site should be criticizing and bashing. he has done more for this sport then any other company out there. sure salomon made the first twin. none of these big race companies had any respect or drive for the freeskiing market to really put alot of time and effort into the skis development. then there is LINE. from the vary beginning line skis have been a huge influence on what happens in our entire industry. the list above and a million other reason is why our sport is becoming so diverse. There would be no Armada, 4frnt, Ninthward etc. without LINE. I am not sure if all this bashing is because alot of you havent been with the freeski/twin tip market since it began. If you look back at the last 10 years. It has been LINE with the major innovations and taking the major risks and every other company follows suit with what works. Line deserves the support of our industry. Buy other skis if you want, but dont bash a company who has done nothing but good for our industry since the beginning. You guys are kooks.

You raise a good point. I think the reason that people diss Line is because their older skis weren't up to par with the huge corporation skis like Salomon. Obviously Line did not have the many years experience building skis like the others. Line has come a long way since their first models and are definately a huge contender in the freeskiing market.

Nice work! After reading other threads about how much Line sucks, I was about to say some of the same stuff. I just don't think people these days understand how huge it was for a dude to say, I'm going to make better skis that actually work. Then went out and did it and ended up changing the sport in the process. Especially when you consider the domination of the big ski companies. Wthout Line we may still be skiing on Salomon 1080's(when was the last time they came up with an origional idea?) Line was the first ones out there, and really opened the door for all these other small companies. If you don't remember a day when you had to heat up the tails on your 201 GS skis and bend them up under a door jam just so you could do a 180 then maybe all you bastards should shut the fuck up and stop hating something you know nothing about.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought the first promodel was the K2 Morrison. other than my slight confusion there, i agree with everything you said. definitely well put.

it might also be said that they experiment with new designs and concepts far more than any other ski company. the Elizabeth, Prophet, and the five other points you listed (technological break throughs in our industry, for the most part) are all great examples of this.

^^K2 did have a morrison pro model years ago - way before line even existed

previous pro-model skis??

hell all top racers have "pro-model" skis...for years the top dogs have had one off hand made skis that are designed just for them

I totally agree. There's too much hating of Line because they don't have the biggest names on their team. So what? It means that can put more into making sick skis.

I love my Lines.

People are free to there opinion. Criticized or not its there opinion. Thats what NS is about. Weather you like it or not you cant change it, so chill dude.

at the risk of going off topic.. wasn't the construction of the morrison pro-model metal like the new Prophets? and didn't it have a warping problem?

i was never trying to give anyone shit for there opinions. theirs just alot of facts people dont knwo about line or forgot about. Yeah the K2 morrison was the first promodel for the freeski market, I apologize, i was talking about twintip ski market.
