USE FORMICA!!

For those unfamiliar with it, Formica is used for counter tops, cabinets, etc...

It comes in sheets like plywood does, so you can cut it to any size you need.

Use contact cement to adhere it to your box.

Formica is a pretty hard surface and it slides very well. My friends and i went a step further and waxed it for optimum smoothness, but this is absolutely not necessary and will probably be too slick for some peoples liking.

It's much cheaper than HDPE and slides just the same.

And...it comes in many colors/patterns.

Hope this helps someone

enjoy.

I always thought formica scratched really easily, but I might as well try this. Composite decking also works pretty well.

No, it's all about using resin. My grandpa gave me some like 10 year old resin for like making counter tops so i layered it all over a 2x10 board and let it dry. Made a base for it, and now it's a perfect box

no, you're wrong. if you really need something cheap just use composite decking. as long as you have dulled edged it will slide fine and will never warp or get waterlogged like formica
