I’m 28 and I’m still progressing. Did snap my shin in half a few weeks ago though so maybe I’ll take it easy. I have a lot to lose and nothing to prove.

I have to actually worry about school, work, and other stuff. I have always wondered how people get home after they get injured. I have a 2 hr commute to the local hill, and if I blew my knee, how tf would I drive home? I don't have my parents to pick me up like I did growing up.

I forgot to age claim! I'm 36.
Someone the other day told me 'you still got it man' not realising that I never had 'it' and this is as good as I have ever been.

I snapped my shin in half a few weeks ago while on vacation. I was stuck in a Colorado hospital all alone, far from home, and unable to drive. Missed flights, hotel reservation, and my rental car situation was screwed up. It was extremely painful both mentally and physically.

At 29 I broke my back- spinal compression fractures, bruised lung, and broken sternum from way overshooting a jump on a lazy boy 180. I will still ride park but the big sendy days might be behind me..
14278617:Jammu said:35 next June. Ski mainly park only, because thats all we have here in south Finland. Spins up to 900 cork or without, some easy flips like frontflip or rodeo. Lost a bit style on bigger spins, need to work out with that. Love rails and still learning new like 360 sw up this season. Also love hucking air in halfpipe, but this season hurt my back(could be slipped disk) when pumping speed on the pipe.. 36 days on slope this season.
Also do AM style mountain biking and skateboard alot, actually just broke my big toe on skateboard, so I could have some time to do ski edit from the past couple seasons. At least 3 concussion from skiing, but all when I was younger.

topic:SkierPT said:Hey guys. Since I must preach health and fitness I thought it was be fun for us older Newschoolers to compare what a park lap looks like now a days. I still try to progress and actually probably ski better now than ever at times. I can 100% day my grind in the gym allows me to continue to ski hard. I find I’m usually the oldest guy lapping or especially hiking rails which I find funny.
For me, I’m 28. On jumps I rarely go over 360 anymore, but enjoy 1s and 3s forward and switch. I don’t go upside down anymore but those backflips are calling me lately!
Rails I get occasional feds, front 4s. I’m fairly consistent with front swaps and back surface. I can switch hit/ switch 270 mellow rails and have 270s on pretty good.
Where’s my old park rats at? Give these kids some hope to be able to ski park into their 30s. Let’s hear your age and typical lap tricks!

You gotta make it to Elm creek when you can. That place is an awesome hidden gem.
14377715:SSteezle said:31 here. The last real park day I had at Stratton in 2020, which consisted of about 6 park laps. Now I just wait for conditions to be nice and slushy, so typically only get one day or so a year when conditions are prime. I took up tele skiing mostly just to stop myself from going in the park and getting hurt when conditions are hard.

14377938:nmwninjart said:Crazy thing was I lived in an apartment for a year 6 miles from the place and never knew Elm creek existed, but that was before I was a skier. I think now you gotta be really in the loop and into the culture to know of it.
How I found out about it was during my first year of starting park skiing I had seen something online somewhere about a free Cross country ski day at Elm. So I went, and while I was skiing the trail I saw the downhill ski area and heard people hitting rails. I couldn't believe it.
Also another place I discovered by accident a couple years ago while XC skiing was Como park. Really small rope tow hill and park with just a couple features.

Jonny Moseley was the coolest guy on earth, Daffy was the big trick, jumps were built by us and got demolished every night, no one even dreamed of doing rails and Finland had zero park slopes. (Well Ruka kinda had one but I didn't know it)
Fast forward to april 2018 and age of 34 when I went to ski again with rental twintips. Did my first 180's and got hooked mad hard. That trip ended 2 hours before the lifts closed because I wanted to go and buy my first own set in over 20 years on the very same day.
Haven't looked back since and spend skiing pretty much all the time I can. Just turned 38 a few weeks back.
Did my first backflips on snow last spring, can do three ways 360's from a small jump, regular left 360 and switch right 360 on a medium jump with grabs. Both ways frontside switchups, lips on, a switch lip on, K-fed, natural backswap, all four 270's out, a 270 on, backslide, 50-50, and slide pretty much every rail both ways. I've achieved this with 194 days on skis between march 2018 and today. Yes, I'm also a data nerd. And I feel like I'm just getting started, falling in love with skiing more and more every day. It's crazy how addicted I'm into progressing my skiing and pushing my (and the society norms/)limits.

14378522:alpineplease said:33. No park days this year thanks to major storms. Typically just try to grease all the rails and 3/5/7 jumps depending on how hard the crew is going. Skiing at Palisades and Mammoth.
What is the best fitness maneuvers to stay in shape for park skiing, "old" dudes?
