FOR THE SPORT OR THE MONEY?

exactly, this isnt nascar, its a fledgling sport that needs the riders who are in the limelight to actually care about the sport and the companies in it order to help it grow. 99.99% of you arnt making money skiing, you just ski b/c you love it. those people who care about the "big bucks" to be made in the twin tip ski industry and not about anything else should go fuck themselves. my 2 cents

but since im not the select few making money off this shit, for me its cause skiing is pretty much the most fun I have ever had in my life... and I have been blesed enough to go most everywhere and to have done everything. its for the pure enjoyment of it.
 
what is this? for the sport of for the money ? is k2 going to give you a huge check to leave line face down in the dirt and let a bunch of dudes in three piece suits fuck it up ?

dont sell your company or something, line is your baby and i really liked your skis while they were made in canada.

completely depends on the situation... 90% of the time, for the love of the game, but IF there is money available, why not?
 
there is no money, there are probably 15 to 20 people who can live solely on freeskiing in the world. If you can make money doing this, you are in it for the sport, because chances are, even if you're one of the best you could be making more money doing something different. Get paid if you can, because if you're making anything, you're one of the lucky few.
 
im pretty sure you love skiing and get super good at it before making money even becomes a possibility. and everyone knows the money isnt great. so basically who can ski with feeling the pure joy.
 
it is always for the sport, but there comes a time that in order to pursue your sport you must get money somehow so you can keep skiing...
 
In all seriousness, how does riding on LINE make it about the sport....because "money" is the "bad" answer, so why make yourself sound "bad"....so with that said.....people that line ride line for the sport?.....but line sold it's sport for the money, and the financial backing, of a richer older brother? I don't know.....I want you to show me how it's about the sport and not about the money.....kind of what you did that during the "independent" days....but that's no long gone and over with.

I don't know J. Convince me and prove me wrong that Line is about the sport and not about the money.....not just a combination of both would even be a start.

Plus, does riding K2 make it all about the sport too? that's going out on a limb.
 
If we're talking skiers...pro skiers, who ski for work.....peoples got to eat. Ramen in the back of your subaru in the Whistler parking lot ain't hot. You can take money there...sure. Get it.

If were talking "core independent" companies...claiming to be about the sport and BEING about the sport are different things.....when certain actions are taken and change the companies outlook, style, and overall standpoint.....aka straying from the original path, that's not being "'bout it 'bout it".
 
you ride for yourself and try to get a good enough contract so you can ACTUALLY HAVE SOME SPARE MONEY. You still need to LIVE. this is a dumb question - because almost every up and coming skier is looking for a new better contract so hey dont have to live in a garbage bin.
 
sport, money is a bonus. i wouldnt be skiing right now if it was for the money cuz im not sponserd.
 
There is Fuck all money in skiing, Unless your Tanner, Gurlain Chichriet or CAndide or CR your arent making that much cash , though the number of skiers making good money of skiing is increasing there isnt very much money$ ski companys are stingy skiing is the richest industry in action sports yet skiers make fuck all, I have pro surfer friends that are just freesurfers making over 200 g a year the big surfers like Andy irons , kelly slater , Parko and mick Fanning are making over 2 million a year, yes there totally different sports but all it comes down to is ski companys being stingy shit Pro snowboarders make mad mad mad $. Seth Morrision makes fuck all and thats an isult k2 should be paying him out the yin yang hes one of the best action sports athletes on the planet.
 
AMEN. I am so fucking sick of people talking about how core Line is. That is complete bullshit they are in it for what every other ski company is in it for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
 
J lev did what he had to do.. hes looking for line to grow and the only way he saw that it was possible was a bigger flow of money.. it doesnt matter if k2 owns them theyre still doing what they wanna do just with a bigger pay check so they can accomplish that. nearly every ski company is owned by a bigger company so whats everyone bitching about when it comes to line.. theyre doing it for theyre customers, now you can get cheaper, stronger skis. so stop bitching
