Bode Miller of the US wins the over all world cup, first time in 22 yrs for a north americain. All I have to say is that he did it and I don't care what people think of racers, but this dude rocks.

last year ESPN asked Glan Plake to nominate someone for the skier of the year award....he nomitated Darron Rahlves....needless to say, they were expecting a tanner hall or someother park monkey...

Bode and Darron are the two best skiers in north america....period, end of discussion, NO ONE else can touch em

and if you have ever seen darron on a pow day at squaw, pointing it out of the chimney you would agree

 
i personally like darron better. i mean i guess bode is better, since he did win, but Daron just seems cooler. but thats still awsome, especially b/c americans are supposed to suck at racing.

skiing is a luxary sport and anyone who makes it more accepted (ie Bode/Darron) helps all of us!!! The more media coverage and the more amped people get about Bode winning the overall will only help major corpoate sponsors accept that skiing is worth their money...unti, then we will all be borrowing money from shaun white and andy fisher

i think ripping shit down a 60 degree field of varying conditions of pow is scarier than ripping down an ice field, because of more variables, but since you have to carve racing that makes ice sketchy

This is sort of a stereotype but a lot of racers (not all, because i kno some pretty awesome ones) are dicks. Not to say that there aren't freeskier fags too bc NS has some of them but racers can be stuck up as hell

I love all skiers, be it freestylers, pipe riders, slopestylers or alpine racers as long as they ski

so i agree with shitfaced and lets all be happy for bode miller in his world cup win afterall he is an americian and we dont have many that win in skiing.

i race but thats so i can going skiing every week-end but after racing i just put my twins on go to the park. racings not bad it's skiing.

 
Thank you to the guy who mentioned Hugo. Yes, Bode is great at what he does, but to just come out and call him the best skier is a little sketchy. To say he's the best at what he does, I'll give you that, but you can't even give him that high of honors when it comes to big mountain with guys like Hugo skiing lines that are 100 times more dangerous than the iciest race course.

He does it down mountain faces that are steeper than any race course, more vert than any race course, and with avalance conditions and large cliffs and rocks to wreck yourself on.

And he probably goes just as fast as these racers.

i would like to give congrats to bode and daron for not having a good season but putting tanner in his place..I dont think u shuld be down on someone for what kind of skiing they prefer. As long as your out there rippin the mountain everybody shuld be chill and accept that u do it cuz u have a great time.

 
we should just leave it that everything is difficult in its own right, i also believe that its not bad to get the little kids racing *i never did, but it seems to teach you how to be a great skier* but i do believe that once in middle school or high school they should stop and do there own thing, i mean every racer i know gets picked on and shit *and thats in school where people dont even know they ski so i dunno to each his own i guess*
