For the love of skiing

It has been six years since I have created a thread or even posted here on NS. My life has seen a whirlwind of changes and responsibilities that has taken me away from skiing. It has been two seasons since I have strapped boots on and clicked into bindings (although that will change in two weeks time) and for the most part I have been so busy that I did not even realize it had been so long. As of late I have found myself longing for the brutal cold of winter and the feeling of snow under my feet. My love for skiing has come to the forefront of my life lately and I have found myself re-living all of the memories and friendships that the sport of skiing has brought me.

My question to all of the NS community is this:

What about skiing makes you love it so much? What are some of your favorite moments that have come from skiing?

Feel free to share anything about your love for our sport.

Its just awesome. I can't identify any 1 particular thing, especially because I love all aspects of skiing, but when I ski its like meditation or something for me, I just have fun and don't think about anything else no matter what. This season I also came back from not skiing for at least 2 seasons, and I credit it, among other things, with turning my life around, quitting smoking within a month, quitting my dependency on weed and/or alcohol, and pulling me out of hole of depression and self loathing. I just love skiing, unconditionally.

So many of my favorite memories are when I was skiing, my most recent probably being skiing at Big white, and tearing it up with my step-bro who I hadn't seen in so many years and hadn't skied with in god knows how many years, skiing and BC turned his life around too, and now I'm moving over there too. I cant fucking wait. I swore to always make time for skiing, no matter what, you should too man, its cathartic, Its our medium to be so openly expressive and its healthy as fuck. I've got many pages of notes down on this very subject, no doubt itll be one my first and best essays I write when I get to school. IN BC, hell yeah.
