Ok, so i officially am so completely fed up with getting motion lines in my shots with my camera. I can't figure out how to get rid of them. I don't know what i'm doing wrong. I shoot a sony pd170, and edit in fcp and after effects. For example. http://blip.tv/file/537982/ notice the motion lines with any moving person. Help.

those lines are because the footage is interlaced.  normally, like when you play it back on a tv at full quality, you wont notice it at all, but since its compressed you can really see it pretty bad.  so just de-interlace your footage in post.  though sometimes even when i do deinterlace in post, and i put the footage on some website, it goes back to interlaced footage for some reason.

you can easily deinterlace in fcp.

i use this alot though    http://www.xs4all.nl/~jeschot/home.html#DEI

it makes your footage alot smoother and when slowing footage down its alot smoother too. better than normal deinterlacing for sure.

nevermind i think you just open the program and then import your footage into it.  i havent used it in awhile so i might be wrong.  i think there are instructions on the site.

and remember you can still just do normal deinterlacing in fcp without that program.
