my parents second house, its in the most expensive place to live in canada, pretty large but not very fancy. for sale. we all know how to find me with these, so dont post all my info just for the sake of it.

the other houses around it are way more expensive.

that house is freaking tiny for 15 m unless the guest house is another 5k sqft. the only thing that even begins to justify the price is sitting on 5 acres. you could do A LOT better
 
I think he posted a facebook link last page with all the pics. It seems like a sweet place, I'm very jealous, to say the least. Haha

It does look like a really nice huge house though. He's telling the truth though, and not making incredible claims like some members *sweaty_balls cough cough* haha.

Plus, to put in some perspective, that 9000 sq ft house is more than 10 times larger than my childhood home. Which is roomy as it is.
 
haha this. Idk, I dont come from a poor family, but my parents have always been really hush hush with how much money they make. I didnt know how much my dad made until last year, and I'm really thankful for that. If theres one thing i hate its rich kids living off their parents and people buying shitloads of expensive things just because they can afford it. Inb4 being called jealous, but i'm not, I just think its an arrogant way of life. People are living on $1 a day in other parts of the world and others have 4 vacation mansions to "entertain" extended family. Arent you aware of how fucked up that sounds? something taken straight out of 17th century europe
 
for everyone saying that that is a lot for what you are getting: you all are super ignorant about real estate. Location, location, location!!!

My fam moved to my neighborhood in the 70's and paid 150k for the house. nice house, but very middle class. after silicon valley blew up and all the influential people decided to settle down in the area, my house is worth millions. if you saw it, you would think 250k-300k max.

A brand new, state of the art house, with every amenity and luxury imaginable, in one of the most desirable areas in the world is going to cost a damn pretty penny.

 
True, I also agree with that. Still think its stupid though :)

I guess I'm just fed up with being surrounded with people who brag about how much money their family have, like many people where I live do.

The whole "you are what you own" lifestyle glorified intensely by so many people makes me lose faith in humanity haha, and I think more people should start thinking "is this really necessary?" when consuming (applicable to everyone).... do you really become a happier and better person for owning this much property/other stuff, or can you survive with less?

Haha maybe I just sound like another hippie, but to me it makes sense. I'm glad I'm still somewhat level headed after growing up where I was.

 
^ see thats what I dont get! the constant competition and strive for acceptance. When you're dead it wont matter what you and your family owned, life is more than heated floors and sports cars. I guess its difficult to see things from different perspectives when you have lived your life in a certain way, surrounded by others with the exact same world view, but wanting to own a property like the one in op or bigger is ridiculous. At least to me (and hopefully many others).
 
I completely agree. Everyone now a days are being consumed by the media and the materialistic world.
