Here is a video I've made this winter and where I showed how twixtor is a power tool !

Hope you'll enjoy.

where do i begin here...first off please dont use twixtor. secondly you need to do some editing other than twixtor. pretty much all your shots were a little over exposed.

Well, you wasted 10hrs of your life rendering to make a stupid video. How that use of twixtor powerful? you just slowed everything down so slow that i had to fast forward through the edit to watch it. Twixtor is overused and with this video you are beating a dead horse.

nobody is hesitating when it comes to twixtor. every ns'er and their grandmother has it, which is why nobody should ever use it again.

yeah. i honestly can't even think of the last time i was remotely impressed by the use of twixtor in an edit

/static/images/flash_video_placeholder.pngPersonally I really liked this video with twixtor but it was also the first video I saw with twixtor; ever since this video have never liked videos with twixtor other then this.

Wasn't really a fan....there was some bad warping in some of those shots. classic case of kids on newschoolers not knowing how to use twixtor and not looking out for warping/not caring that it's there. plus the colors kinda hurt my eyes. but i can see how you would like it since it was the first twixtor edit you saw.

i actually just remembered the last time i was impressed with twixtor in an edit:

It might be glitchy when I embedded it because It wasn't glitchy on Vimeo. But this was also the first time I saw twixtor last year so that maybe why I liked it but I might be the only person who likes it but that is alright haha.

i actually watched it on vimeo and there was still very noticeable warping, i think that's maybe what he was referring to

Slow motion really should just be used to accent something...not as a whole fucking edit...even Sal Masakala would say that was over use of it.

An effect is only good if it has effect, a gnarly tree tap or some ridiculous tweak on a grab or some snow spray, but its only for very brief periods.

Also trying to have it skip frames to have it match the song was great in theory, but ended up looking like the visual representation of a scratched CD.

Oh yah I didn't understand what he was talking about and yah I knew that. I knew overall it wasn't good it and had some issues like the colors and stuff which I agree I didn't like I just liked some of the twixtor effects. But never mind I forgot about the BC Team edit I loved that haha I would have posted that instead if I remembered haha.

Slow motion only looks good is its cut right. If you use it for skiing, people generally want to see the entire trick, which makes the shot too long, and look...poopy.

like everyone else said, that was dumb. if it is not a good shot in the first place, slowing it down does not make it better

twixtor and timelapses are so fucking played, please stop using them in edits. like forever.

I think twixor is pretty sick when a video is played in full speed during a trick, then half way through the trick it halts to almost a dead stop for like 1/2 a second then continues at full speed. Like once in an edit, then never again, and it has to be perfectly timed with the music.

agree with twixtor.. but timelapses?. those have become my favorite to shoot these days. maybe a little over played in edits but they are super fun to shoot and can turn out amazing

Both can really add to an edit when done right. People just need to get more creative with the uses of them

But to say to never use them again is almost absurd and to say never use twixtor again is absurd. Although played out they have a time and a place.

I agree with regular static TL's being over played, but I am completely down for sick motion TL's.
If the person has taken the time to have a well executed motion TL, I am always interested as I know how difficult it is to make them look the way good.
An example of this can be seen here...http://vimeo.com/16369165

you have to take context into consideration.

to tell a kid on NS to never us twixtor again is NOT absurd, it's stopping us from suffering through more poorly twixtored clips and edits.

anywhere else, sure, if you can use twixtor in a cool and creative way that actually makes sense then go for it.

I completely agree I guess I did take it out of context. I;m sick of seeing warped out twixtor shots.

anyone who makes more than 50% edit in any kind of slow motion clearly is compensating for one of several things, including lack of camera control, lack of camera stability and, most likely, a lack of work ethic.

haul a goddamn tripod up the mountain, shoot at a normal frame rate and make something that actually looks good and stands as a piece of work among the community. An edit that's 100% slow motion (no offence to DTF) just really doesn't do anything for me anymore.

Time lapses and overcrank have their moments, but should be so so seldom.

This. Full speed jumps and rails at 24p is fucking awesome. Some slow motion is nice when you need the detail of slow motion (like example i had a shot of will berman doing a sw 10 mute to blunt, slow motion was needed to even see the trick). I also don't mind a few slow motion shots in a row to a build up in a song either. Its all about working with the audio and video to create something that flows well, not just a whole edit at 10%.

sorry for being a noob here. but like what is twixtor? all i know is it makes everything slow. is it like a final cut effect or something? i dont make edits so thats why i dont know

it's a plug-in for final cut. it allows you to slow clips down much more than a normal speed tool in an editing program could. it does that by analyzing the motion of the pixels and it makes a guess as to what frames would fill in the gaps to give very smooth slow motion. but it doesn't really work well if the background is complicated. the more busy the shot is, the harder it is for twixtor to figure out what the pixels should do.

Came here to post this edit.

Also, I don't know why the fuck you guys are saying that time lapses shouldn't be made anymore and that they are played. Shut the fuck up.

I guess I just have a difficult/different taste in edits than, because your statement is the way I felt about almost all the big movies last year.

Yea idgaf if they are played or not they are so much fun to shoot. First thing I'm doing when I get a decent slider for my camera is rigging up a rotisserie motor motion control for TL.

I didn't say at 100% slow motion, I said an edit that is 100% slow motion. As in the entire edit or close to it is slow. It used to be a turnoff from your stuff for me, but you've gotten better about it (Sandy's edit). It's a niche thing however, and you do a good job with it. I'd be lying by saying edits like the BC team edit or Braedon Wheeler's aren't almost completely slow mo, but I'd also be lying if I said they aren't very very well done.

Theres only so many timelapses that can be showcased in a ski specific edit because of the environment we film in. At a certain point its just the same thing over and over again and when you compare the people who know what their doing to the people that suck, people get pissed it seems. If your putting in tl's in your edits, make them unique more than anything. That being said, the only way you get better at tl's is making lots of them, although every single one doesn't need to be showcased. Fuck i don't even know if this makes sense, i'm so tired right now. Anyway, if the timelapse is good why the fuck not, put it in there. I'm all for timelapses. But if its not essential to the edit or just plain shitty then spare us and leave it out.

I used twixtor in this edit...i know how most people feel about slow mo and the whole first half of mine is in slow mo but the 2nd half makes up for it
