by the way, that link I posted was a joke, in showing that none of the states are all that smart, on the count that they all seem to be below the avg. iq! Had you fooled didn't it!

jaross...

I personally started to disregard everything you say after the first post of this thread, because, as Capurnicus said, you are making general assumptions on the intelligence of a group of people as a whole, whether it be Republicans, Democrats, or 'hicks', and that just shows me that you are no more intelligent or informed than the people you are generalizing.

gotta love those party supremists, 'our party is better' 'our party is smart, more well-informed, and more intelligent'

Have you ever stopped to think that maybe there are large numbers of people from both parties who aren't 'well-informed'?

MY idea of a reality show is the fat olympics. Making EXTREMELY fat people compete in athetlic events and the prize is food. They dont feed them and the onnly way they can eat is by winning competitions. It would be very entertaining I think. -Ice-Is-Scary

I will come out and say that there is absolutely nothing right now that pisses me off, than hearing about the people that voted for Bush because he is SO religious. He doesn't support abortion and he hates gays. Isn't our country based on freedom??? Frankly I don't support abortion, but I feel there is a need for it.

Plenty of young girls get pregnant every year by accident. Yes they made a mistake, they didn't use protection, the condom broke, ect. Is it really right to punish them more the rest of their lives because of this child? I always get the people that say 'Just put it up for adoption.' Do these people have any idea how hard it is to carry a fetus around for 9 months??? One study even showed that it might not even be healthy for the mother or the child until the mother is at least 21. The mother will have to drop out of school, hell she might not even be able to support herself! Not to mention the poor child will live an absolutely misserable life raised by the state, and may not even get adopted, let alone into a decent home.

And for the Gays I say, 'what have they ever done to you or me?' Damnit just let them get married! What is the big deal? Banning gay marriage will not stop people from being gay. They're not going to get discouraged and stop being gay i can assure you.

My political science teacher (who is a republican by the way) couldn't have said it better, 'The U.S. is moving forward to becoming an extremely religious moralistic society.'

I am christian, catholic in fact, and I am extremely tired of this. I though America was land of the free and home of the brave? People come here to gain freedom, and we don't wanna give it to them??? My priest told me to vote for Bush. I decided to vote for kerry because of the issues at stake, not because i wanted to limit other freedoms, so i could get to heaven faster.

^we are in 2004 man! no one can get pregnant by 'accident'! when i make a mistake i assume it. to me the question is: is the comfort of life of a girl higher than the right to live of the foetus she has in her body?

i do not know if i'm against, but the law should everything to make them keep their babies: money, forcing the father to recognize the kid, ... no?

I am not close minded. I am saying that there were issues at steak that were a lot bigger than abortion and gay marriage.

Maybe i should clarify. I am not saying girls should get an abortion, i'm saying that it should be a decision between themselves and God. Nobody should tell them.

And as for 'it's 2004... there are no mistakes...' not everywhere is educated, white, upper-middle class, suburbia. A lot of people aren't educated about sex whether you'd believe it or not.

I would call CBS reliable. i could see why F911 would get discredeted. you guys have Fox on your side, would you say that is reliable? fuckin eh, one of my republican friends actually thinks The O'Rially Factor is un-biased. that is fucking out there. that show is so obveously slanted it pisses me off.

HAHA yes CBS is reliable u mean the same CBS and dan rather that decided to air the documents that showed Bush skipping his guard duty without crediting its sources. When we later find out those documents were completely forged and false, ea thats credible journalism!

i think that it should be up to the state to determine whether gays in their state should have the privilege to get married. it should not be legalized nationwide, because being married is a tradition for a man and a women, and it dates back from way back...u do it in a chruch and it has a signifigant meaning when u pledge your love to your wife. i am not saying men cant love one another or women cant love one another, but being married is a tradition, and it isnt for everyone......

You are right jarros, checking your sources isnt really that important, and if the information turns out to be completly false, no big deal right? Every anchor has a bias, of course. However every network, except fox, has almost all liberals on their shows. If you actually watched O'rielly you would see he agrees with the president with Iraq but he doesnt agree with him on social issues. Look at hannity and colms, 1 conservative 1 liberal. Is that a bias.

Media Bias is something that American's are forced to live with. Objective news is hard to come by, and I'm not quite sure whether or not its even possible. SmokinSkier, your right, all networks are at fault for being partial to one party or another. Look at Fox News however, Carl Cameron's report of false quotations that Kerry allegedly spoke? These were proven to be completely false, but it all makes sense because Fox caters to conservative viewers. In order to keep this balanced, CBS news' Dan Rather gave a flawed report on Bush and his National Guard service, and apologies were made. Fox chose to carry on the issue with Dan Rather for far longer than it needed to be. The point is that there will be subtle descrepancies in information depending on which network the news is given from.

In response to the smart : dumb ratio in each party's respective following, that is an issue that can't be legitimately generalized, there will be those active in politics, and those not. There is probably a stronger correlation between those with University Degrees and their activity in politics than a relationship between the number of smart to dumb people in any given party, but thats just my assumption.

GVAR510, I agree with you on the statement that gay marriage should be under the jurisdiction of the state. Pro-State's Rights has commonly been a Republican view throughout American History, even though I don't consider myself to be one, I agree. I'm not very well versed in the gay marriage dilemma. I don't think it played a large role in swaying the election, but if it did, please correct me otherwise.

There it is boys, tear it up!

i agree w/ hellmut, most media programs are for the most part liberal...dan rather being a big liberal, as someone said before me...there's not much we can do about it, i just try not to get to caught up in it all, and remember to look at both sides of the issue...

hellmut,

the liberals fox chooses to put on their programs suck, and they choose liberals that suck interntionally. they are all squirrelly and dont usually know the subjects as well as the conservatives on their shows.

and that bullshit about cbs and showing those documents. as for that, a simmilar thing has happened to every major news program. just maybe not somthing that seemed to matter as much. it is not somthing you can fully avoid. there is aloways faulse info that looks creditable. I dont really watch CBS alot, mostly Democracy Now! on FSTV, ABC and CNN.

I see very few if any conservatives on cnn, abc, nbc, cbs. What do you mean that kind of stuff happens all the time? Most stations check their sources before running it on tv. cbs was so eager to believe the false information, so they neglected to check the source. Fox at least presents both sides of the issue, although fox does have some bias. I think the owner of fox is a genius because if all the other stations show the liberal side, then fox gets half the country to watch its shows.

Yea if u were watching CBS. ABC or a few others when the eletion was called or Bush it looked like they were covering a funeral!!! I watched CNN most of the night and i really enjoyed what the anylist on the far left was saying most of the night though i cant rem his name!! He did a good job of presenting both sides equally and brought up facinating points unlike stupid ass Larry King who had some of the dumbest comments i have ever heard!

grubix2, if a church official told you to vote for Bush, she/he is in violation of the tax code. Tell him/her not to do that anymore.

'hicks that live in this country of ours. how can you say hicks are dumb you ask? well jsut look at them and listen to them. they are crazy raving assholes'

That is a facile generalization and not worthy of a political side of the spectrum that prides itself in being tolerant and accepting.

As for the IQ thing...it doesn't make sense. The election was soo close in many states. Even in the states like the bottom of that list such as Mississippi went 60 to 40 in favor of bush. Now, if that whole state's stupid, then %40 percent of them voted for Kerry. But if you're saying it's the smart people in each state and those who were smart were the ones who voted for Kerry, that's quite a stretch, because it would have to be a 100% of smart people voting for Kerry. I dunno it's really hard to explain but statistically and mathematic it's difficult to claim that as having any value.

Why are people's IQ's being valued anyways? I'd put my trust in someone who was dumb, but kind and good hearted over someone who was smart, yet cutting and deceptive any day.
