ok, anewmorning, you are infromed and generally do a good job of agrueing your point, but do you honestly think that most of the people who voted for Bush are also just as well informed? becuase if the answer is no (which it sure should be), then why do you say things like you shouldnt vote unless you are well informed? becuase if you wnet by that policy, i would think it is safe to say that Kerry should have won (if only informed voters voted) it seems to me that in general, more liberals pay attention to the news and so on then republicans. you know, what whole blindly following your country no matter what thing? which i dont beleve you do, but i do beleve that alot of people who voted for Bush in this election do

I think that alot of people that voted for Bush in this election voted because of their religion. You don't need to be well informed for that. Alot of those people just want to hear that you are against abortion and gay marriage and that will become a vote for the person.

its hard to say which side is more 'informed' by and large, and i do kind of think that a psuedo platonic voting scheme would be beneficial to america... it depends on how you want to define 'informed' like swirly said, a lot of republicans in middle america voted on moral convicitions. i dont know that that is being uninformed. so maybe on social issues you cant really define it. as far as economic and foreign affairs issues, the informed factor becomes more important i think. im not sure of how you could define it. on those issues the number of people who know what theyre talking about decreases signifigantly, on both sides of the asile.

You forget about the masses of uninformed voters who voted for Kerry too. Its not one sided, both sides have hundreds of thousands of idiots padding their votes, but its just something you have to deal with. I just don't like the fact that you make generalizations that conservative voters are the only ones who are misinformed or ignorant, how about the people who voted on the issue of the draft? That seems pretty misinformed to me, a non existent issue that has been perpetuated by liberal media and 'non-partisan' action groups (rock the vote). Sure, the NRA has scared people into voting for Bush with stuff like saying Kerry will take away second amendment rights, but a lot of gun owners would vote for Bush regardless. If the election was reduced to informed votes only the results would be the same, America believes in him and trusts him. Do me a favor, please drop you liberal high and mighty attitude, you are not always right like you believe that you are. And sorry about your misconceptions that republicans are all ignorant pig fucking rednecks, it really just looks stupid.

I am not sure where you came up with the assumption that most democratic voters are informed. I find that too many democratic voters get their information from moore, the hollywood crowd, and the liberal media(like cbs). Not very reliabe sources.

that is ture, sorry, i guess i need to make it clear, although i already did say that it seems tha LESS liberals are uninformed then conservatives. first you have the some of the nationalists who simply dont pay attention and follow our leadership no matter what. then you have the hicks, and those who got around to voting, im sure didnt vote for Kerry. then you have the people who are serous biggots who may or may not be that way becuase of religous beliefs. Then you have people who are religous and may or may not be following their religion blindly to the point that when their religous leaders tell them that they should vote for Bush (this has happened on a number of occasion that i know of to people that i or a fir3end knows and all have been pro-Bush). as for uninformed people who vote for Kerry, you have a small percentage of youth that vote for him just becuase they are told he will be better for them and that they should vote for him. I really dont think this is a large number becuase there are a ok amount of kids, on either side that are informed, and then there are alot of youths that simply dont vote.

college students are a terrible example. College campuses are incredibl liberal and the professors by and large attempt to indoctrine their students. Not to mention that college students are also the most easily affcted by the biases of hollywood. And also don't make the assumption that just because one is in college, that they are intelligent ... that is a gross misunderstanding. Plus college students are usually living off their parents dollars, or on governement aide themselves. So fiscal matters that the R party stand for mean nothing to them.

I hate to bring this up for fear of being incorrectly labeled a racist but you forgot to factor in the black vote. While I am by no means saying that Blacks as a whole are uninformed but they do have low education rates and have voted the same way since the civil rights movement. It is nearly impossible for republicans to break into the black vote due to the fact that they always all vote democrat, regardless of candidate. Is this because the race as a whole as reached an intellectual plateau high above the masses, no, they just vote democratic regardless.

academia is not the real world, professors don't have all the worries that a normal citizen will have, like losing a job. Regardless of what happens they will still have tenure in the morning, so that allows for idealism. Also, maybe the fact that they are teachers and not business or such has an effect, maybe they perused terminal degrees because they were not capitalists, they were not able to make money in any other way (exaggeration). Consider that they are professors because they are liberals, not liberals because they are professors.

see republicans are capitalist by nature, we want to go out and make a lot of money rather then spend 10 years in school (w/ the exception of law and med school) and teach kids about what have you, its very clear why republicans aren't in colleges teaching a lot, they all left to go make money

Let's get one thing straight here. Just because people go to University, by no means, makes them more intelligent. I know lots that may know how to do any sort of calculus or know everything about the human anatomy etc etc, but as far as things go in reality, they know shit. So is a tradesperson dumb to you? Or business owners? Cause they dont all have some fancy degree that says so and so, but doesnt mean shit. I am seriously tired of that attitude that if you go to university you are automatically smarter.

Furthermore, realize that not everyone thinks the same. Just cause the think different, that means they are dumb? I dont really think that anyone who voted Dem is dumb, except for possibly a few individuals who seem to be very good at know who really is 'dumb' around here. This shit works both ways.
