For all you Red Sox fans out there

go away Boston haters, and great the Yankees made the playoffs, but that 4 days in October brings back so much nostalgia.

awesome. i dont normally watch 30 for 30 but that one i might have to watch. from chicago, but loooove the red sox. for no reason other than that they are an awesome team.

yea i don't think people realize that outside of baseball, the yankees really arent that impressive.

27 titles? Ok, not bad.

Celtic has won the SPL 42 times, rangers have won it 53 times, and both have won dozens of other titles on top of that. And besides the records, the rivalry between the 2 of them is 1000x more intense than the sox-yankees. Best rivalry in sports my ass.

The fans don't give a shit, all we ever get are a few drunks having a penis size debate that ends up in a fight, and some people yelling "yankees/red sox suck" which is about the high point of baseball fans singing/chanting abilities.

how are they still competitive? The last time the blue jays were in the playoffs was 1993.

and as far as sports fans go "red sox nation" is the biggest conglomerate of morons that exists. Im not even a yankees fan nor an fan of an AL east team.its south shore bros with the pink hat wearing girlfriends who counldnt even name you 1 player on the 86 sox besides bill buckner. or couldnt name who the manager prior to francona was.

Every time I drink crawlers I end up forgetting half my night. For example, last night. Playing 6 cup and dice with crawlers will always end badly

red sox nation is just a ploy to make money, and improve fenway. In the 80s/90s, fenway was by no means a pleasant place. The people sucked, the stadium was barely standing, and for the most part, the team sucked. I remember going to sox games when i was little, and it wasn't at all what it is today. Hell, they didn't even have a mascot.

damn near everything about the modern red sox comes from the new ownership that took over in 02 or 03 i think. Prior to that, everything was done as if they were a minor league team. That's what got sox fans such a bad rep. There used to be fights and everything, and it wasn't a great experience. Oh, and my source for this info is a man who's worked for, and been to every single red sox game since the start of the 1967 season.

As for the people of sox nation...from what i've seen, its mostly older people, or people with young kids. And you're saying this as if no other team has fans who wear the various merchandise they sell. I'm in a different goddamn country yet i think in the last 3 weeks ive seen more variations of a yankees hat than i saw red sox hats at fenway all summer.

makes sense to come into a thread about baseball and declare that.

how about we shut the fuck about eheath instead?

lol. people only give a shit about baseball when the post season rolls around. same goes for football when the superbowl comes around, and hockey.

not really but at least on newschoolers there are only a handful of posters who actually post about sports besides just posting "yeah go______. stanley cup '10" or "3-0"

I do agree that there are fans that do care about their favorite sports teams. But there is a handful of band wagoners that just root for a team because everyone else is rooting for that team.

I'll admit, I don't know that much about baseball, but in 2004, was the first baseball postseason series I ever watched, and only because my dad was watching it (my dad is a huge sports fan of anything New England: I think he would ditch the family to marry Bobby Orr, I really do). I remember seeing his emotions after the first three games, and just feeling bad. Then, the next four games were magical. I don't think you could have written a better story. We had a big party at my house for Game 7, and we got to beak some Yankee fans.
One of the my best sports memories ever, and I don't even like the sport that much. That's how awesome the 2004 ALCS was.

Can't remember anything of that week, other than the red sox. I had just started in a new school and everything, yet only remember the sox.

well, and being extremely tired in the mornings. I want them to win a world series at home (while i work there). Thats the thing that's missing. They need to bring it back to Fenway. I mean, as employee, it would be chaos and a ridiculous challenge and none of us would be able to celebrate, and i probably wouldn't get home until the next day...but still worth it

Sox are gonna bounce back next year like they did in 06 when they were plagued by injuries all year. The next year they won the World Series. They'll restructure a bit, rumor has it they're going after Carl Crawford in the off-season which is something I predicted at the start of the season. The Yankees will be strong next year too, but they're not gonna win the World Series this year.

Just because they do not make the playoffs does not mean that they are not compettive. By using your logic 80% of the league is not compettitive.

alright but how can you say the team competes if they have not made it to the playoffs in 16 years? yeah they are stuck in a great division with the red sox, yankees and now the rays, but really with that said the jays season is pretty much over before it starts these days.

unfortunately thats what the AL East has become. I think eventually MLB is going to have to take some sort of action. 3 of the best teams in baseball at the moment all playing in the same division is ridiculous and ruins it for other teams.

also heard there's a sox-yankees double header today. SUCKS. I hate working double headers, and against the yankees its only made much, much worse. First time ive been happy to not be home to work.
