Those numbers have been discredited on numerous situations.

A) There is no way to determine a fair average IQ unless a large portion of the pouplation has taken the test.

B) The last state is only ten points away from being legally retarded

C)It is a hoax. Anyone who believes it is a moron. No such studies on IQ comparisons have ever been conducted

D) You are an idiot if you really think there is a 30 point gap that would exist between the 'dumbest state' and 'most intelligent' state

IQ is not an 'exactly' accurate test, as in a person with 113 might not actually be smarter than a person with 110. still it gives you a fair estimate of the general range of someones ability to think logically and problem solve. i wonder if Yale and Harvard were significant in gettin Connecticut and Mass to the top of the list.

As far as I last heard Psychologists believe there are up to nine different types of intelligence, and IQ test measure two.

I like how, apparently, people outside of urban centers are considered 'dumber' because they perhaps can't do any differential equations or can't identify impressionist paintings and what have you. I honestly hope that is a generalization only for Mississipi and that it is mainly a joke, for it has been my experience that 'country folk' or 'rednecks' are often smarter. If you take for granted these people and the fact that they produce most of what you are eating, then you are perhaps the one that is 10 points away from being retarded.
