Hey guys,

I have a 2008 Ford Escape and I have finally had rid with the shitty speakers and lack of bass. I have 3 amps that my dad just took out of his car that I can have, I dont know the name or wattage of them, I will look in a bit. Basically, I want all new speakers and I am looking for 2 10in subs. Can anyone any brands for either or these? I dont want to cheap out, but I defiantly dont want to break the bank.

I have been looking at Rockford, Kenwood, and MTX. Am I on the right track?

+K for help!

i don't know shit about cars, but i had a 2004 xterra and installed my own sub, amp and aftermarket radio

alpine for decks, they are the sickest and mine still works from 3 years ago

i had two 12 inch dual subs, and for two 12's with a 400 watt sub it sucked.

don't get duals, although they never broke until i blew them haha

I have a kenwood sub and it's ok, but just spend the extra money and go with JL audio or something along those lines. I have JL audio speakers and I love them. I know they aren't the best speakers but they are pretty damn good for the price

What kenwoods in specific did you have? Also, thanks mike. What do you reccomend and what do you mean dual subs arent good? Are you saying get 2 seperate ones?

I have a little 6.5" kenwood sub, I have a jeep wrangler and the console has a place for a 6.5" sub so I just replaced the stock one with that. I have a 6.5" JL audio sub but it wouldn't fit but I hooked it up anyways to see the difference and you can easily tell a difference, hits harder and clearer. I had alpine speakers as well and the JL audios are noticeably better as well.

Got it, thanks. It seems like everyone like the JL audio systems, so I will defiantly look into them. Its around 160 for 2 10s but I would need a box, and I dont really know how much those are.

Thanks! +K

I run a 12" Rockford fosgate punch hx2 to a rf punch 500a2 and it fucking pounds. Picked it up lightly used off kijiji with a box for 300 and installed it myself. You honestly can't go wrong with rockford they're a great brand. If you want your system to sound great and last long go with something higher end so you know its not going to cheap out on you. Like I said rockford is awesome, and Orion and MMATS are two other companies worth checking out too.

Hope this helps!

^ Word. What car do you have yours in and do you wish you had another sub? I dont know if i want 2 10s/12s or one 12.

check outhttp://www.crutchfield.com/

Tons of helpfull reviews and you can outfit your car.

Plus when you buy from them they include all the write cables pre-cut and stuff with easy directions. Saved me lots of time since everything else from changing a damn spark plug on my car takes me dayss.

Damn subi engines..

I drive a mazda protege5. Some days I think 2 10's would hit a lot nicer than my 12", but I love the sub and it hits every note it needs too high and low, plus it takes up way less room. Another thing is my buddy who drives a jetta has 2 10's and his box takes up almost his entire trunk, he's gotta throw most of his shit in the back seat now which isn't a problem for me aha. Plus I could easily buy a larger sub and amp to support it and have the single sub bumping just as hard as 2 10's, hell my single 12 right now bumps harder than a lot of the 2 sub setups my buddies are running. Remember subwoofers are based largely around power supply/consumption not necessarily size or quantity.

Just to let everyone know, i ended up going with polk speakers, and a kenwood 12 in sub. I decided to put my money towards the speakers, and just

Fuck. On mobile. What im trying to say is that i spent most of my money on the speakers, and just settled for a mediocre sub. It still slams pretty hard. Love the new speakers!

The best advice I can give you is head unit.

Mediocre subs and speakers on a good HU can sound better than the best the best subs and speakers on a stock.

Individual x'overs and band equalizers make a huge difference when you get into adding subs

^I think i got a pretty good head unit. I cant remember the exact model because im not in town, but its pioneer that has 3 sets of RCA preout, 4v. It has bluetooth, HD radio, rear USB, and aux cable. I seem to like it a lot so far. It was hard to use at first, but isnt to bad now.
