For a Girl : Boone vs Armada

Magic sticks? You're not down for half naked chicks on ur skis, chica? Just joshin ya! If you like the Boones and want to support an up and coming indie company than they are the way to go. I dont care what anyone says, i love my boones and would even if i didnt ride for them. I'm a heavy mo fo (190 lbs.) and i ski harder than i am heavy. i have never had a pair of skis whos edges held up for more than 2 weeks and i have yet to crack a pair of boone edges. However, i did go peep a pair of the new ar6s for the 1st time the other day and i must say, they are deff a legit pair of skis, but i promise you this, they will not hold up like a pair of Boones. I do realize that you are only 100 + a lil pounds, but you must take longevity into consideration. The flex of the 81 waste is a bit softer than that of the 93, so for a lil one like yourself the 165s would be a great park ski. Your decision should be based on your overall impression of the ski. whatever ski you think be best for what you're looking for, than go with your instinct. There's my two cents. If you're interested in a pair of Boone's than pm me and i'll hook you a coupon code. If not, than good luck with your ar6s, they're a great ski too.

haha on this thread and through messaging everyone gives me pretty legit reasons why to get the magics.. so i guess i should? hmmmmmm

id go with the established company. let boone get a few seasons under their belt then we'll see.

.what type of riding do you plan to do all park, just jumps and no rails or all mountain? quality wise i'd suggest armada specially for their durability in the park

agreed. Stick with a proven ski and a good company with SOLID customer service. Let Boone works the kinks out first, the ski designs themselves are similar enough.

I'd stick with the Armada, solid company, and prooven to be great, the AR6 is a great ski, it's been a favorite for a while check it out here

but don't pass up the ARW and Cantika just because they are chick skis

ARW

Boone..haha, what have like maybe 5 people used their product? is this even a comparison? Armada, hands down. K2 and Line also making fucking sick women's skis. If I was a chick, I would be all over the k2 and Line offerings, for sure.

^ yeah what 8=D says about line girl skis is true... super light & durable skis, check out shadows or celebrities, i've seen chicks throw down with shadows and it's incredible how they can just toss them around with such ease. sick skis for sure.

thats terrible advice. if noones gonna buy there shit hows it gonna get bigger? just cause its a established company doesnt mean anything. look at getboards.com there a shitty company 85 percent of the time and there established. im not saying armadas shitty at all cause i like armada adn what there doing but i like boone to. i may have never riden boones skis but they seem sick and from what ive heard they are sick and super fun skis. dont just go with armada cause there name is big. take a chance talk with them. talk to them on here tell them you wanna get tehre skis but you dont kno how well its all gonna hold up. make them a deal try to do something with them for if your skis break theyll send you a new pair or give your money back or something. tell them youll promote it and support them if you like there skis. thats just what i would do anyway.

a) You can't spell for shit

b) You have god awful grammar

c)I can't understand a fucking word you just said

d) Getboards has been in the business for probably 10 years or more, that is a horrible example

e) Your whole argument is a crock of shit, given what you just said I should be able to make a completely boring ski that is already offered basically by every other company on the market, and people should buy my shit because if they don't I won't have a chance to get bigger? Oh boo fucking hoo. If they show me they can create an original product, that can last a few seasons I will buy it. Don't be such a fucking core consumer whore. /daily rant.

how am i being a core consumer when i said go for boone? haha and i dont care who hates or how much hate there is on me... i was just trying to help now stop a complaint haha. nice job thou

take a chance, go with the boones! they're light, they're poppy, they're durable and they're fun, and you can talk directly to the man in charge if you ever have an issue. it's not like they don't come with a warranty either... give them a chance.

I like armada's better. I also trust that they will make a good quality problem and i have never had any dissatisfaction from them. If i were you i would choose Armada, but the final decision is up to you.

only if they come with a rocket pack, or something..

Armada puts out good product, I can vouch for this seeing as I've owned some, but I don't see their appeal over other companies that still make high quality product and sell skis for a better price.

So? You're paying 150 extra for a name?

Granted, yes.. they do have experience on hand.. but really.. skis are skis.

I know a female 5'7" 145lbs (pro) on Armada AR6 165cm and the ski is enough for her. U may want to look 4 women's specific skis - lighter, softer. So at 100+ lbs u need something like Armada ARW 161cm or Cantika 157cm or 161cm these are park pipe & all-mtn not more than 6" of pow....else 4 more pow and all mtn get the ARVw but only comes in 165cm. ....I don't know Boone.

There are a lot of good skis but r u 50/50 park/all mtn or do u pow ? Go to Armada website or Salomon website videos or for womens skis....for HEAD website womens Grete GE ski, ROXYhas Sarah Burke ..... Rossi....lotta video reviews out now...go to youtube

you pay for consistently good product with great durability, excellent customer service, and a company that has supported our sector of the ski industry for years...you cant claim any of that for boone, as boone is new company.

When I had a problem with my Armadas, I sent them an email. Tyson Hall CALLED ME BACK personally, gave me a RA# over the phone so I didn't have to deal with a shop, took care of the issue, sent me new skis, plus hooked me up with a shirt and a sick hat for the trouble.

It doesn't get much if ANY better than that customer service right there. And this is from a ski company that is getting pretty large. They have the quality and design of a large company with the customer service of a small company, that is the shit right there.

You might think that with smaller core companies you are gettting better quality, but in most cases that is simply not true.

Go with Armada, K2, or Line girl specific skis. Or Volkl, or Salomon whatever, but please for the love of god don't support Boone, unless you really think they are a good company, but I hope to god you didn't buy into "the sexiest skis on the planet" marketing. That is just plain childish, ineffective, and uncreative to slap a picture of a hot chick holding your skis on an ad and expect to move product.

dude i totally agree, not hating on armada's customer service at all! i've had three friends who've all broken armadas and had nothing but a positive experience working with tyson on the warranty side of things. wasn't trying to say that boone's customer service is way superior or anything. just that if you're worried about the durability of the skis for some reason (which you shouldn't, because they are more solid than just about anything else i've skied), you can rest at ease that boone's got you in good hands regarding warranty.

i guess my view is that i agree the marketing isn't the greatest, not by a long shot. but the skis are really really solid and ride really well. haven't met anyone yet who actually tried them and didn't like the way they ride, so i think if more folks took a chance and actually got on the skis instead of hating the image, you'd be seeing much more of a positive feedback.

fair?

Armada, no question, if only because boone has the most obnoxious marketing strategy on the planet.

okay so never mind how each of the companies market their skis or their warrentys or whatever because they both sound pretty legit and i dont really care

i just had a horrible realization though...i went to the ski shop and looked at a random pair of 165s and was like shit these are pretty long

and im a pretty weak scronny sad thing. and im not that good at park anyhow so it'll just make life hard. and we dont get much good powder at apex anyhow...

so here's the argument should i be like fuck it i'll get the 165s i like the boones better (i already do so no point in trying to change my mind :P) OR should i be like hmm well whatever everyone at my hills gonna have the ar6's but theyre a sick ski and i can get them 161 which is probabllyyy a better length for me.

size wise: really depends where you want to go with it. do you plan on becoming way good at park or is it just kind of whatever? also depends on how good of a skier you are... and what size were your last pair of skis?

if you really plan on progressing just get the 165s; in the long run you'll like them better.

if you're a pretty decent skier and you can handle a 156-161 then go for the 165s. otherwise you'll prob have more fun with the 161s. is the flex the same on both?

lol? I'm pretty sure you were supposed to do that the other way around...well that's what I would have done.
anyway good luck with them hope you have a great season and let us know how they ski!

Good choice. You will be happy you did not follow all of the armada lemmings on this site.
