Football and skiing

bump, hows everyone's seasons going?

we're 2-1, should be 3-0, game tomorrow

i haven't been playing much at all, and that combined with jv bullshit and some other stuff has me kind of pissed off, so i'm just hanging in til winter

Our team is 0-1. But the team we played has run undefeated for 3 years straight. So, its NBD.But its always fun when you get a big hit and knock someones helmet off. Get up. Scream. Gloat. Rinse & Repeat.

my team is 2-1. we won our last two games in a shutout. first one 28-0 second one 22-0. playing our town rivals next week so we will see how it goes.

I played for 11 years. I was the leader in sacks and tackles for my varsity team junior year but the quit senior year to focus on snowboarding. Missed it until I logged in almost 100 days of shredding. Football is a dope sport

you bet i do, on my... 11th year? redshirted this year, its hella fun and college is way better than high school... though we did have practice today at 6a.m in 45 degree rainy weather : /

just lost 0-38, now 3-2

hello mediocracy

next up 3 state semifinalists from last year and another playoff team

I'm pretty sure this quote was referring to "soccer" when originally written but I am going to use it to mean American Football.

""Football is a gentleman's game played by ruffians, and rugby is a ruffian's game played by gentlemen.""

Won our homecoming game 21-14 in overtime, against the school that we beat at their homecoming last year with a 48 yd field goal

the best is skiing on a lazy sunday then coming home to watch the game. fucking fantastic, the best time of the year.

ive played football and skied my whole life. loved football and put skiing on the backburners for only outa season cuz football was my ticket into college. I play at fordham university now as a freshman this year, but now that im here skiiing is all i think bout, i'd taek skiin over football anyday.

hell yeah football is so fun and intense i play running back and inside linebacker i love defence but running the ball is also so fun when there are holes

Funny how this got bumped, I've never actually seen it before.

Aaaaanyways, we just had our second to last regular season game today, and we're 5-0 right now. Today's score was 31-12, closest game we've had so far. Playoffs soon baybay!

just lost in the semifinals of sectionals the other day, turned in my pads today. senior year season is over, might never put on the pads again. cried like a little bitch. football is a feeling that cannot be replaced. thank god i have skiing at least

it's not about getting a scholarship, getting drafted, or making Sports

Center. It's a deep need in us that comes from the heart. We need to

practice, play, to lift, to hustle, to sweat, to compete. We do it all

for our teammates. We don't lift weights with a future Olympic wrestler;

we lift with a future doctor. We don't run with a future Wimbledon

champion; we run with a future CEO. It's a bigger part of us than our

friends and family can understand. Sometimes we play for 200,000 fans,

sometimes for 25. But we still play hard. You cheer for us because you

know us. You know more than just our names. Like all of you, we are

still students first. We don't sign autographs for money. But we do sign

graduate school applications, MCAT exams, and student body petitions.

When we miss a kick, we d...on't

let down an entire state. We only let down our teammates, coaches, and

fans. But the hurt in our hearts is the same. We train hard. Lift, run,

and lift some more, and in the morning we go to class. Still the next

day in class we are nothing more than students. It's about pride; in

ourselves, in our school. It's about our love and passion for the game.

And when it's all over; when we walk off that field for the last time,

our hearts crumble. Those tears are real. But deep down inside, we are

very proud of ourselves. We will forever be what few can claim: college

athletes.

My buddy posted this in a note on FB. I know you're not a college athlete, but it's still the same feeling of walking off the field for the last time.

very true words, knowing you gave it your all on every single play yet still walking off the field for the last time is a very unexplainable feeling. i knew it was gonna be tough, but i never imagined. really got me thinking to do everything in my power to play in college.

the feeling of flying around the field with no restrictions is such a great feeling. its the one and only thing skiing could never replace

i use to play. the game is so sick. so much fun and never got seriously hurt which im thankful for. i was a wide reciever and the only thing i didnt like was my reciever coach. huge douch bag

i really like that

i'm only a junior, but tomorrow is senior night. We had our pregame dinner tonight and recognizing the seniors really got me thinking about things like that

thanks for sharing

This is coming from a former football player since flag football in 3rd grade to varsity football.

My junior year of football we came off a 8 - 1 season and got upset in the playoffs and lost a whole bunch of seniors. So myself and 5 other guys (who I played football with for all those years) were the only seniors on the team, our quarterback was a sophomore who some how beat out the QB from my class.

So its our senior year we are ready to kick some ass and have a great season of football and have everyone want to come out and watch us on friday night.

Well we went 1 - 8 my senior year.

All I can say is treasure every single moment of football you have because you will miss it when that time comes (thats if you truly enjoy the sport). I honestly miss going to practice for 2 hours after class every day, it was a blast going out there with your friends getting ready for next Friday night.

Stepping on to the field on Friday night, the band playing, crowd cheering and the lights beeming down on you and your teammates its your time to be in the spot light.

I miss it. I'd give anything to play again.

finished the regular season today, 4-5

Most wins for my school since 2003.

Except losing tonight means we might get the number one team in the state, top 10 in the country, in the first round of the playoffs

^^hoping that doesn't happen

kind of an odd year for me, came into the year looking like i would start, but new coach and new system left me playing jv
