Foot beds/insoles in Intuition (fulltilt boots)?

Hey guy I was wondering if you use footbeds in your intuition liners or fulltilt boots. My manager says theres no need for them because of the heat molding but i use footbeds in mine and they feel great.

You should have footbeds in Intuition liners they really do make a big difference, your manager doesn't know what he's talking about. Heat molding will help and provide a little bit of support but it won't provide anywhere near as much support as a proper custom footbed will.

funny you should mention this. i just got a new pair of fulltilts. and to everyone who has full tilts and/or want them do take into consideration they have no footbeds. so your support is soley the intuition liner. this allows your foot to slide around no matter what. even if you molded your intution liners. im getting custom footbeds so i dont get toe bang. note. ive used my FTs for half a day and i have slight toe bang, due to the fact of my foot sliding around and the arch of my foot flattening out with no support. the footbed holds your foot in position and gives you the much needed support. when people say "full tilts are the best boot ever and give you no shin bang, take into consideration that they have NO footbed and you should probly buy some sort of footbed to go along with your fts if the boot fits you

Custom footbeds = Better fit

Without that in the full tilts like said above, you have slippage and they're good for more support.

I put my footbed and under my liner and once your liners are molded to the footbed it is very comfortable and snug.

Thanks everyone, i use the footbeds in my FT's and they make them a thousand times more comfortable. It also eliminates the toe bang and gives me some more room for my toes. I was actually selling a FT boot and my manager came by as i was putting a footbed in and said oh you don't need footbeds in intuition liners. It was the first time i've heard that... anyways i sold the kid a footbed anyways lol. At first i honestly thought that FT's didn't come with an insole because they wanted you to put in an aftermarket one! Honestly, every other company is dumb for not at least putting a bit of support in their boots. It's funny seeing people buying 900$ boots without buying a footbed...

The reason brand don't add any is that is our job a boot fitters. There are so many differnt shores of feet that if say atomic put in an insole wit some shape it may only fit 10% of people buying that boot. It would also raise te price of the boot. So for 10% of customers they are getting a better deal but the other 90% en up spendin more as they have to buy the boot with the more expensive insole just for them to replace it straightaway. It is this reason brands ten to use as cheap an insole as they can as they know I most cases it will be replaced straightaway.

As for your intuition question you were right. Don't worry about your boss you always want a footbed in a boot regardless of shell or liner. The footbed you use may change depending on the boot but it's function remains te same.

quick questions, I've never been quite sure how to adjust volume of full tilts as there is no replaceable footbed. when you add a custom you inevitably remove volume in the boot. now, is this solvable by allowing the liner to bed in naturally?

You take into account the change of position of the foot when doing the shell cheack. The liner won't be what feels tight it will be the shell. So if you don't have room in the shell for the foot in neutral it's not the right shell for you. Adjustments can be made like removing material from the boot board and remoulding te liners may help but it's the shell volume whic will be the deciding factor.

Helpful thread, Definitely getting footbeds now. Just one question. Kinda related to above, but would you still put the footbed inside the liner?Could you heat mold to make the liner bigger to accommodate for the loss of space?

ok, i thought it would be down to shell, just wondered if there was a technique (short of grinding down the footboard) that was generally acceptable.

Good boot shops can stretch the instep of the boot. This may work if grinding the boot board is not going to work.

You definitely want the footbed inside the liner! i would say try the boot with the footbed first keep it on for a while to generate some heat, if its not too tight go ski in it, The best way to REALLY break in a boot is to ski in it. If that doesn't work move on to re heating the liners and then grinding or stretching.... Try not to change the shell if you can. Pick the right shell according to your size. Once you start grinding and stretching it can void the warranty... let me know if this helps.

Alright, thanks. +k.

I have a pair of sole semi custom footbeds I have been using in my boots lately, they seem to be a bit better... I think I will use those for a while and see how I go.
