At 12K a pop, plus 6k for the bag, I figure if enough of us go in on them we could get a pair. Anyone seen these before? Made for mega baller swag god legends only

And yes, those are gold plated bindings.

lmao so corny

'Like a Master Chef, Alessandro has prepared a gourmet recipe of materials and processes that yield what can only be described as "Perfection on Snow." '

Guy is shooting for the wrong market..you know how many gold/nickel plated pivots you could sell in the park world?

Shoulda started in 02, though

wish I had thought of plating bindings. could have made a killing off all the gangster wanna-be park rats.

Looks kinda sweet....also looks pretty stupid if you ask me. $12,000 for skis? You could get the best setup on earth for that money. I know plenty of rich people at the on mountain club at my home mountain....NONE of them would buy this crap

Nick Saunders

“I never used to think that I skied enough to truly tell the difference between skis, but after just a few runs on Foil, I knew immediately that these are heads above all the rest!”

Well seems like teamrider Nick here hasn't skied that much at all then...

also they say that the "craft" the bindings... Aren't they just average looks/fks

I came here expecting some idiot babbling about making skis out of tin foil, this is much worse than I expected

Wow that last sentence was difficult to read

I used to do a lot of sailing when I was younger, and the boat that I always wanted to get a shot in was the International Moth. Why is this special? Well, it flies:

This is achieved by using hydrofoils, known as 'foils', essentially an underwater wing.

When I read this title, I thought someone had figured out how to make skis, with a sort of hydrofoil that makes them fly above the snow.

Obviously that is both completely pointless, impractical and, as the engineering half of my brain was quick to point out, virtually impossible; but it didn't stop me being disappointed when I realised that I wasn't going to be seeing any flying skis soon.

Waste of gold pivots on those skis. This combo is the move

*buys skis just for the bindings

*goes to mountain and hits jump switch

*lands switch and blows up binding

*sends back to Italy for repair

*looses bindings in the mail

more like

*steps out of bindings once*

*gold is all scratched off*

If you could get some all black skis and then throw some gold Pivots that don't ultra-polished and flashy as fuck, that would be a tight combo

Moths are dirt cheap too.

I work at a very high end hotel in Deer Valley and have had the opportunity to ski these. They are the worst skis I have ever skied.

I was just gonna post a thread about this.

Literally just came across these in a news article cuz Jackie Chan now has a signature pair since he's such a great skier.

http://www.foilskis.com/product/oro_amaranto

And don't worry, the other one, the Ora-Nero version, only has 8000 year old wood because why not.

Literally this site only caters to the rich who know jack shit about skiing. It doesn't mention specs anywhere and only talks about how great it is and all the celebrity people who approve.

What is weird is how they call the bindings "Foil Bindings". (see below) Why because they plated them with gold? These are still Pivots. Shut the fuck up.

"Foil bindings are designed for performance, safety and aesthetics. Every single detail has been meticulously conceived and painstakingly produced in order to provide a binding of unparalleled comfort, ease and elegance. The plated finish is extremely durable and guarantees a long-lasting beauty and unrivaled distinction. Every Foil binding is adjusted precisely to your boot in line with your physical attributes and level of proficiency. This adjustment ensures both a precise fit and a ski that is uniquely yours."

The website is insane and the people involved are garbage. What's with the crazy stack height on those pivots? It looks like they are using weird chinese knockoffs.

Yeah I did notice that on the front binding. If they are knockoffs and not actually pivots, they'd have some patent design infringement on their hands because other than that, they look nearly identical.
