Foil, or Guns???

I'm moving out to Nelson, B.C. this year, and am looking for a good all mountain/park ski. I've been skiing on 1080's for ages (my first pair of twins were the VD 1080s), and I love em. That being said, If I get a new pair of skis this year for out west, I'm not sure if I should grab the foils or the guns.

I'm about 140lbs, and I was skiing on 166cm foils last year. If I stick with the foils, would it be wise to grab a size larger???

Apparently they get a lot of fluffy snow they call "powder" out there, and being from Cambridge ON, this whole "floating rather than skating" concept is totally new to me, so any help is MUCH appreciated!!!

foam is as good as wood. maybee there would be a difference for a 200lbs person but... if u are going to ride BC u should get the gun in a size bigger. and youre money

no, foam is damp and unresponsive, and also loses it's life, you don't have to be 200 pounds to notice they hace no pop or feel.

The debate here isn't about the brand, or the core material. I like the foils, I like the way they feel. They are also a lot lighter than most wood cores out there. I didn't make this thread so ppl could tell me to get a different ski, I made it so that those with experience could help me decide which of THESE TWO skis would be my best option!!! Again your help is much appreciated!

its still important and yeah you should step up from 168, probably 175ish maybe 180 if your an agressive skier/want to mount your skis at true center or close to there

Thanks for the help, I've also been eyeing some line stuff, the prophets and lizzy's..... the search continues and any help is much appreciated!!!!

Nah, I think bacons would be a bit difficult to handle for him. Elizabeths were designed to be a bit shorter to make up for the width. And 5'9 is 175cm, a 172 would be great.

I think the lizzy would be my pref out of the Line stuff. I want something that I can goof around on, I'm not too worried about stability, after all, I'm used to skiing at mach 3 on my foils and they flop around like 2 pieces of spaghetti! I just wish I could demo the bitches before I buy em!!

Oh and I'm from galt :)

You need the 174cm Gun, White Water Pow is light and your laps to the road will be much more enjoyable with fatter skis.

You gotta hit Air Puff when you get to Nelson, Ask around and you will find it when you get to White Water.

I'd say out of the two a 175 gun.. But i'm not a fan of salomon. You are talking about lizzies... WAY better choice if you ask me. They are sooo much fun.

you're not super tall, and you're light. get the live life 2 from surface. soft, fat, 179. that would be such a fun ski for british columbian pow pow. if you really wanna stick with salomon, the gun in a 180 or something close wouldn't be a bad choice. the foils, however, would be a bad choice.

guns...nelson has littile to no park in the area...its all about that fluffy fresh white stuff thats cold...whats it called again?

get guns if you want to charge most of the time.. foils if you plan on fuckin around in the park..

Get a pair of Gun Lab series, they are most pefect salomons i know.

But just get them if you're a quite good skier, because they're not easy to ride.

Otherwise get some Seths
