just saw it, it sucks. dont buy it. the music is crap, dosent make you want to ski. the skiing is good but the filming is crap. all the shots are artsy and slomo and zoomed in on the skier, you loose the size of the jump/the whole effect. the movie had a real style-oriented approach, rather than focusing on the skiing the film focused on camera angles and artsy stuf. the big mtn stuf was sick but the jumping lacked due to the fact that all the shots were hard to understand/see because of camera angles. one thing the film lacked was a mindblowing seg. last season everyone was blown away by morrison or candide, this year nobody seemed to stand out, mabe thats just the impression i had tho.

i was there too... it wasnt that bad though. yeah the music blew dingleberries but the skiing was sick i thought. there were a few good songs... but yeah, 75% shitty music that was all low key and made the skiing seem less intense than it was. i'd say buy it, or at least try and see a showing of it. pretty much all the skiing was super sick... but then again theyll probably have a lot of similar stuff in other music. i thouhgt everything was good but the music... and seths section wasnt particularly innovative. good flick though.

 
pollard was a let down, pep stood out and 'turp-dog' and mark abmas sections were pretty sick... slmost all of them were... and mcconkeys section totally stood out... he was just fucking around the whole time it seemd like, skiing big lines on water skis and then the skiing/ base jumping shit he does is intense. jjust shit, go see it still.

 
theres a bunch of no name shit music but good songs are by hed pe, flogging molly, and the best: modest mouse... there were a couple others... but seriously, see it, its fucking sweet, and i keep thinking of reasons why. hugo harrison machs big mountain shit at like 80 and then drops 90 foot cliffs and shit. and seth throws like the sketchiest rodeo 7 off a cliff... its tight, go, really.

i talked to pollard for awhile after the primier and he said that 90% of his footage with PBP was over exposed and unusable so he said he barely has a part in it. THAT SUCKS ASS! focused was a let down but still very good and pollard unatchy passive is the sickest trick ive ever seen. when i was talking to him he said he stomped it first try! incredable! he is at another level. haha. he is goin to russia for a month next year 'other than that its all up in the air'. pollard is the best and i just found out a super nice dude too. and his touqes are soo baggie!

seth morrisons segment was so bad. landed like 4 of 100000 ungrabbed same old lame backflips.

peps segment wouldve been good if it wasnt the same 180 transfer 9 times and that stupid ledge stall the rest of the time.

the music sucked soooo much. i would almost rather listen to swollen members than that garbage. modest mouse and cky were the only 2 good songs.

FOCUS over Focused, that's all I've got to say. MSP is the same thing every year, and that shit is getting so stale. PBP two vids are where it is at this year for just blowing the doors off, MSP and TGR are being left in the dust. I say go with Session 1242, RFA, Speshul, FOCUS and Forward as the vids this year, those are the ones I'm getting, none of that same old, same old shit MSP is putting out.

Yeah, last night's Focused premiere disappointed just about everyone there. What's sad is that Focused is probably the only MSP movie I've ever enjoyed, and yet I know it sucked. What's even sadder is that I wasted a killer champagne buzz watching that movie. Gone is the $25 bottle of Mumms Napa Cuvee.

It's enough to make a grown man cry.

i liked sm3 alot. this movie was just too slow paced. there was no songs to get you stoked in it. the skiing was good but not as good as last season. it was nice to see some new faces in MSP like Rory Bushfeild (sp?) and Mike Willson, but the movie lacked flavour that the earlier ski movies had.

i was sittin in the back in the liek beside pollard and dorion, there ws no one else, so i started chattin a bit during the segments, and pollard was tellin me what was goin on during his runs and all the missed takes and soem of the fuckt up footage. it was sweet, hes a super nice guy too, not like soma the big names- i.e. Boyd and TAnner

And to trash Morrison doing back flips off stuff that all the other pro's were flipping out about, come on man. He stuck that one huge the impact must have been insane. And McConkey is off the wall, hilarious segment and fun as hell to watch. I don't know about you guys but I was amped for the season after that. Oh ya McGoverns fall is worth the flick right there, most insane fall I have ever seen by far!!!!

shane mcwannabe just mention all of the movies im buying this year. msp is so shit. front line sucked major balls, asides from the skiing. honestly, a rob zombie song? thats pretty fucking cock suckish. seth is good at big mountain skiing, and he has drooping balls, but his style just grosses me out. those rodeo 720s of his are discustingly ewwie. i even want to watch the TRAILOR for focused.

 
EVERYTHING is in slow motion. and dont get me wrong, seth is a super rad skier, its just that his backs and lincolns are getting pretty old. especially when hes not even landing them clean

I was definetly not a fan of Focused at all, i was bored for 95% of the movie. Just my personal preferance.

im going to see it on october 24th at red hook, i hope it isnt too dissapointing. its the only movie tour that comes to may area though (even though red hook is still like an hour+ away)

Is this really true? Did MSP actually succeed in making a film which sucked EVEN more than their last one? If so, then they have once again set the pace for crappy, high budget cinematography in the ski industry. Can't say that I'm surprised.

I agree with cj that the music totally downplayed everything, but i thought almost all of the skiing was fucking sweet. and like the last ten minutes made it all worth it. its like going to any other movie so why not go? you could even get free stuff and talk to pros and shit. So all you faggots who cant figure out that there is more to the mountain than the park can go fuck yourselves.

 
I always like the Ski Movies on first or second glances, but after that they get really boring and it's all the same.

Hey Crystal-needs-a-park, calm it down a few notches. So some people didn't like it, at least they're giving their honest opinion about the film. As far as the 'park rat' comment, if you spend any amount of time on this site you would know that 90% of us would rather ski pow than hit park but that's just not an option some of us have and I don't think it takes away from the appreciation of a well skied line.

There's no need to call someone a 'fag' because of their opinion on something... grow up man.

i spend a shit load of time on this site and i see a shit load of little park punks. and whether they admit that or not their responses to the movies they want, skis they have, mountains they ride etc, all point to them being little park bitches. i just want people to appreciate MSP and what all the riders were doing in focused. like that other dude said i cant stand seeing kids rip on it. it's terrible, no respect. if they like they air so much they should just take up sky diving and thin out the lift lines and powder stashes for everyone else... oh wait, they dont touch powder.

 
If they wanted to watch big mountain they could just watch one of the last 5 MSP or TGR vids. I mean everyone would love to ski that stuff, but it gets boring to watch some dot going down some white face 50 billion fucking times. Maybe if they got out of the heli for once and came up with some new creative angles and shit it would be more fun to watch. It's always the same thing, fly out to some big peak in AK, drop off the skier, film it from the heli. I mean they have been doing that for like 15 years of ski vids, it gets stale. I haven't seen Focused yet, but I have Pura Vida, Sick Sense, Global Storming, SM1, SM2, SM3, it just gets fucking stale after a while, that's all.

 
Watching that movie was like watching any 'extreme' movie between 1992 and 1995. Just straight drops. Peps segment was a huge letdown with no signs of his nose or tailslides and the music was awful. John Mcmurry, rory bushfield, marc abma, turpin, and vinnie had sick segments. everyone else was better last year.

I'm not sure why you all are obsessed with getting 'pumped' by the music. Not every ski movie has to be a 30-minute Slipknot video. In general, the MSP movies aren't meant to be the ski porn that, say, Poorboyz is. I can pop in a Poorboyz video a hundred times in a row and enjoy it everytime - it's porn. MSP is more cinematic. Nobody could watch Shawshank Redemption a hundred times in a row, but that doesn't mean it's a bad movie. It's just not porn. Both types of movies have their place.

Also, this wasn't MSP's usual movie. It was only sixty minutes long, showed fewer skiers, and had a bunch of newcomers. The camera work in this one was extremely innovative. The way they did some of the big mountain heli shots was totally original, and I am still baffled how they got the above the half pipe shots.

As for the skiing, how about 40 foot gaps to downward rail slides, all kinds of backflips and flares off of rails, Superpark channel gap zero spins, Candide going insanely big out of the halfpipe at X-games, McConkey skiing with snowboards! Is the only thing that's going to make you happy a Jon Olson switch d-spin 1080?
