this may have already been posted but i havent been on since the begginning of the summer so fuck you...

what the hell is the deal with msp? last few years the movie has always been sick with a dope soundtrack. this year was anything but. the same goes for the EC movie tour. ive been to the one in portsmouth every year since the first one and this year sucked balls. msp has gotta get their shit together.

its not that the movie sucked,, the footage was good, with a couple exceptions,, but christ the music and the overall mood was kinda somber,,

reflective music,, give me the beats damnit this is skiing not a reflective shrink session

 
i thought it was good. I went to the premier in CB, it was a really good movie. though it may not be as good RFA, it was still decent

MSP films have been decent up until last year. I don't understand what the deal is with not having more big mountain skiing in it. You can only watch people jumping so long before one loses all control and wants to break things. How many times am I going to see the same tricks? MSP needs to revisit the formula that made them popular in the past...

On a related note...what is the deal with putting all the park rats out in the back country? What they are doing off the natural terrain as far as jumps is very cool, but their skiing (actual turning ability) in between is awful.

the park stuff does get a little repetitive, especially that cross over jump they showed 7-800 times,, that and eric pollards segment was pretty weak,, shit i can make relaxing pow turns all day to

It was ok. Better than ski movie 2 and 3 thats for sure. But I know what you mean by saying it's too 'somber'. I think MSP takes itself too seriously and eneds to lighten up with the music and footage.

you guys need to stop talking shit and realize what a good movie is. I have RFA and Focused. Focused is way better hands down. if you went through and listed the gnar tricks thrown in both movies Focused has RFA beat. If you go through and look at the riders, in RFA alll of the segments are super short and the editing jumps around. MSP shows the most progressive shit, the best filmmaking, and the most original riders. RFA was the b-roll from PBP, Focused has everything you could want, its so fucking well done and it makes you go 'oh shit' after most tricks. RFA rarely makes you go 'oh shit' everybody needs to fucking recognize. MSP owns hands fuckin down....yeah and forward rocked as well

High Life was the best movie of the year, hands down, with Focused and RFA far below it...so go on and squabble about those movies, but just remember that TGR owns it all.

i agree that backcountry is a big part of the sport, but watching people turn down a big run isnt fun to watch. A movie is a form of entertainment, and park, cliffs, and backcountry hits are way more entertaining than turning in pow. Were not saying turning in pow sucks, but its not fun to watch.

I've never been a big fan of MSP movies. Too much big mountain and the park tricks were like a 360 shot from 4 angles and all slow motion...

But Focused was a sick movie, it really surprised me from what I was expecting. The camera angles are incredible, finally a good soundtrack; Pollard's segment edited on Tool. There's so much more ambience and personnality than before. Besides a few music/segment transitions this MSP film is worth having...

Forward, movie of the year. Best bonus features too...although I havent seen the msp flick but seeing it tomorrow. I am not expecting too much from it.

i personally think there is no good movie out there. every movie needs improvement in some point of view. but the truth of the matter is that the overall ski movies are getting better. some people like to see more big mountain, and others like to ski park rats. personally i would rather see seth or mckonkey or coombs drop an a amzing line before seeing tanner pull a bio 10. its all just opinion and the movie industry is trying to appeal to all. if you want park then go with Poor boyz, TGR is big mountain and MSP is a little of both

i liked focused a lot. with the music it was a totally different feel i think. they slowed everything down a bit but with the music it seemed so dang smooth.

Focused was the best movie ever. the editing and camera angles were so unique and progressive. not to mention the skiing was phenomunal.The only improvement needed was in the music. It was to slow and soft as a majority

I hate everything about focused, and the funny part is that i have not yet seen it. I should see it and then nitpick and whine about egvery little thing, and sometimes freak out because the music in the video is not the kind I have on my ipod. Listen you pissy little bitch: not all ski movies have to have gay underground hiphop, and if they show a 3 four times, why shopuld you care? When you make a better video then I will listen, but that doesnt mean you cant be a beeatch in the meantime.

the music was boring, and some of the park hits were repetitive,, thats my opinion,, and frankly i've been watching ski movies since you were a twinkle in some hookers eye

 
PBP - facet on park, with a little powder

TGR - facet on narration and powder, with little park

MSP - facet on filmaking, cinematography, and big mountain, with more park than TGR.

L1P - facet on Urban rails, trying to be 'ghetto', and park

This is how can breakdown the main movie companies. Pick whatever you WANT to watch. Don't go to a movie premier and expect it to suck because you don't want to watch big mountain. just don't go if that's the case. They all have facets that they excel on. I love MSP because of the orginality of their films. camera angles, new places, and stuff like that. MSP banks on their movies so they must be doing something right. Plus if it weren't for MSP, none of the so called 'park rats' would have had segments outside the parks.

Yo...I checked out the premier in Montreal last week, and I'll agree that the flick was sub-par, especially the sound track. 'Lil Mike Wilson shined in his segment though--sytlie. What made up for a poor movie was bar hopping with Seth, CR, Sarah, Pep, Crighton, 2 Phils, etc., after the show. Even good 'ol Dean Cummings was down. Much respect for these pros who keep a level head among their fans.

I thought it was an amazing movie, i saw it last night at ecmt premier in NY. I thought the music was different, good editing, cr's segment was sick as hell. I like it alot more than other msp flicks..I dont understand why ppl say it blows.

There are a couple of let down segments but as a whole the video is simply mind blowing

great footage, good flow, music needs some work and that was really the only downside

I seen focused yesterday and i thought the clips were really good they had some gay ass songs that didnt fit with the part. example, flogging molly-drunken lullabies dont fit into a ski video. Neither does cky-flesh into gear thats a skate video song. they had some poor chioces with music
