Foam Pits... Cheating?

I feel like for the most part foam pits help alot, but they dont teach you how to fall. And by that i mean i feel like there is a way people learn to fall safely (or more safely) and ways to fall harmfully.
Now when it comes to foam pits, they are good because in the short run they protect you, but in the long run can hinder you. Thus if you balance it out and still learn and attempt stuff outside of foam pits, it will be most beneficial.

actually i don't think most people could because you repeat this tired ass shit ad nauseum.

bitch.

Ali, you were almost paralyzed from the neck dow; your friend who thinks foam pits are cheating is obviously paralyzed from the neck up.

So I'll be turning 43 this summer and I really want to learn how to Dspin. Am I a pussy because I don't want to go to terrain park and huck my shit and see what happens? I still did backflips almost every time I went skiing last season. I learned them as a kid on a tramp.

I can still do tricks like that because I didn't beat the crap out of myself too bad when I was younger. I know plenty of guys that I skied with when I was in my teens of 20's who can't even ski anymore because their bodies are destroyed.

Yeah, in order to improve you have to take risks and push yourself. Sometimes you will get injured, but if you have something available to you that allows you to learn the tricks safer, you will have fewer injuries and can enjoy the sport longer.

Not cheating at all BUT...

you have to understand younger skiers who are desiring to better themselves feel screwed...they dont have the money, time, and or sponsors who supply them money and time to get themselves near a water ramp or a foam pit...so they have to take risks and more time to learns all the same tricks that could be fearlessly achieved in a foam pit.

Therefore, they in turn sometime feel "cheated" becuase while they risked their necks for no money at all on a new trick they have to watch a pro get paid to do it and know he learned it in a care free manner...

i've thrown a few 'bigger' tricks in my life and when i saw a pro throw it couldn't help but catch myself thinking "shit, i can do that and the first time i did was in a dangerous icy park"

I think foam pits are definitely a smarter way to learn tricks. As for getting hurt being what you learn from, you can get hurt on a trampoline or in a foam pit. I sprained my ankle when my foot went in between the springs on a trampoline last night.

cheating what? other skiers, yourself, the game? there are no rules, use what works best for you.

If you don't have the chance to use foam pits, then it sucks for you, you're gonna have to learn the "hard way". but really, if you did have the chance would you say no cause its cheating? i dont think so.

Foam pits are just another tool to improve, if you wanna be at the top of your game (wish to become a pro for eg) then you might gonna have to use it to see some fast progression. some actually dont like them, but thats a whole other story.

I like trying new things on snow cause I like the thrill/fear and specially skiing on snow, not foam skiing, nor water skiing, nor doing aerials with skis on my feet. Im also not in a rush to do more tricks. I would try foam pits and water ramps just for the feeling of flying knowing that almost nothing can happen to you.
