Flying with Skis

I'm headed up to Killington next week for spring break, and I need to fly my skis (Southwest).
Obviously I need to bag them somehow, but what counts as acceptable? I don't have access to a real bag, and I won't be able to get one.
I'm thinking duct taping cardboard around the tips and bindings, and wrapping the rest with some kind of plastic/packing paper. How much shit am I going to get from the airline?
Also, if you're a college student at killington next week, who's tryna RAGE?

Guys, I'm flying out in 2 days. I do not have time to order a bag, or have a shop near me to buy one. Obviously, yeah, bag is the way to go, but its just not going to happen. I can borrow a ski bag from the friend i'm flying up with for the flight back (his stuff is at his house in MA), but I need to cobble something together for the way up.
