Flying with skis

Do I need to put extra padding in my ski bag, or will my skis be ok as they are? I have last years PEs and im getting new skis next year, so I dont care if they get banged up, I just dont want any thing to go wrong with them so they are usable on my trip

dude if i were u i would just wrap them up, that way theres less chance of ur skis getting fucked up.

just wrap a blanket around them

You can pad. I have a similar bag, so I take all my t-shirts that I want on the trip and I wrap them around the skis.

carefull what you use to pad your skis...my ski pants have a half dozen cuts in them from the edges the last time I traveled

1- get ski straps, might sounds like racers, but why would you want your skis moving?

2- Pack your ski bag with socks and underwear. It will save you space anyways.

Word, packing stuff around them leaves less for you to shlogg around.

I once put my toothbrush in my ski bag, and when the bag came out in oversize luggage, the only thing hangin' outta the bag was my toothbrush....bristles out! I'm almost certain somebody searched my bag and set it up that way, cuz a) the odds on their own would be astronomical, and b) I would do it.

And, yes, I got a new t-brush.

Best advice I can give... I am not sure of every airlines policy, but I know southwest (my perefered airline for ski related trips) is not responsible for broken skis, btu they ARE for lost luggage... So.... check you skis at the airport and if thye're broken, be sneaky and claim you never got that luggage... you most likely are gonna ahve to be pretty sneaky and careful, but I am pretty sure you could pull it off.
