yeah well in the article on expn it says tanners going to be focusing the rest of his skiing on big mountain..my opion on this is how lame is that? he's such an amazing park skier, does the biggest BC booters, and he kills urban. i hate seeing such good freestyle skiers go into big mountain. Take Mark Abma for example, his best segment was in my opinion in ready fire aim. Now all he basically does is big mountain and i can't stand it, why waste all that tallent? sure big mountain may be intense but if you've been a park specific rider why go big mountain and just forget the rest..what a waste.

just my opinion.

did you ever consider that he might be taking all his park tricks to the big mountain? maybe he could be the first person to catch up to eric pollard? but i doubt it.

yeah but can your do a 270 onto to a rail in big mountain...no...tanner is such an amazing rider...i think he should keep doing what he has been doing...maybe like focus a little harder on big mountain...maybe take another trip but he is so good at park why lose what he has already gained

yea man maybe hes trying to be innovative....itd be sick to see a skier liek tanner all move his talent to big mountain...i doubt hell be another mark abma

why would you encourage someone to be just another park rat? take pep fujas for example. he does awesome stuff backcountry and it's sometimes more fun to watch than anything in the park. tannner's already mastered the park and it is probably getting a bit boring for him...

Tanner is getting older and, FINALLY, growing up and realizing there's more to skiing than just being a park rat. Skiing big mountain can be the most intense and exhilarating skiing ever, way more than hitting jumps and rails. everyone grows out of being a park rat

yeah pep kills cack country booters, no big mountailn lines, at least not that many..i got from the article that he's gonna focus just on big mountain. i doubt hes gonna be doing switch 9s on a big mountain line in alaska.

Dude, your on the EAST COAST here in the east and midwest we have no BC, so all we know is to ski park, and when people dont ski park anymore, we get pissed cause we have no BC to do the things that our idols are doing, if I had backcountry like they have the opportunity to ski, I would say FUCK PARK, who cares, in the next 150-200 years, the snowpack will diminish and when that happens, do you want to be known for just skiing park and not experiencing big ass epic BC lines? No, so ease off it bro, backcounrty is where its at

exactly. everytime i go out west, i rip backcountry 100% of the time, i don't give 2 shits about park if there's pow to be shredded... someday you'll see?

mayb what expn meant by big ountina was jsut backcountry sking in general which includes booters? i doubt that the person who wrote that would take the time to differentciate

Go ski some real big mountain, then come back and say the same thing again... If i could ride powder or park, i would choose powder... thats where you can separate the real skiiers to the park only riding skiiers... thats my 2 cents

who gives a fuck..big mountain is real skiing.. all these kids are park rats now and could'nt ever fuck with big lines and chutes and shit.

dude honestly i think u should fuck off....did u ever think that he is bored of park skiing after doing it for so long??maybe he just doesnt want to do it anymore...maybe it just says that and it isnt true because i know that whenever someone says tanner is no good at something...he focuses on it for liek 2 yers and then kills it...like slopestyle, like pipe, and now big mountain...just chill dude...ITS HIS LIFE...let him do as he pleases with it...

it just seems like that's where the sport's progressing to... it's all natural, and hell, if i could up and move a giant kicker out to the middle of nowhere into like 5 feet of powder and hit it, i'd do it too. but that's not accessible for me b/c i live on the east coast and i have no money.

east coast whatever, you're an idiot. why would you encourage someone not to branch out and break barriers? ok let me get this straight, you are saying that people should stick with what they konw and keep progression to a minimum? well i think you should take your laughably unintelligent viewpoints and go play in heavy rush hour traffic.

like tanner said in his segment from Yearbook...anyone can go in a park and hit a perfect jump or perfect rail but its all about bringing your A game in the back country cause its a lot harder...personally i like BC a lot more and I'm from cali so im spoiled w/ tahoe and CO is only a 2-2.5 hr plane ride away but there are days where all i wanna do is hit that perfect jump and rail and those are either the days when it hasnt snowed for a week or spring skiing...if you're tanner hall and you can ski where ever the fuck you want cause your a skiing icon, why the hell would you chose a park run thats short with like 2 rails and maybe 3 jumps for line, or a huge endless powder line with cliffs plus building BC booters...it's a lil obvious which is the better option

he has probably decided to switch to big mountain skiing more to get more out of skiing. After what he did to his legs in March i dont blame him. he went of a 130 foot gap ridin switch and tried a 900 i think and cased the top of the landing and shattered both his ankles. he wasnt even supposed to be skiing again. so he might just want to ski everything instead of being a park rat.

As much as I hate MSP now, Abma's seg in Yearbook was fucking sick though...especially that first decent he makes. How can you say that is wasted talent?

dude its all part of being a PRO... you need to be able to keep up with the competition... and it takes a hell of a lot more talent hucking a trick off a cliff then off a perfect man made jump.

The way I look at it Tanner is slowly taking over the skiing world, he owns the park, pipe and urban. Where to go from there? Maybe he wants to become the best SKIER and not only the best park rider. I think it would be sick if he did. He's the best at what he does maybe hes looking for a new challeng, like michael jordan playing baseball, well hopefully it turns out better than that.

i think people have sorta overlooked this aspect to it................

he is coming off a MAJOR crash that could have put him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.....

there is probably still some lingering mental blocks that he is facing when it comes to going MASSIVe in the park.. he could be scared that he will seriously injure himself in the park doing some of the crazy shit he did last year..

plus i dont think he smoked the ganga for a while in his rehab, so there isnt a constant mental block, so now he is sorta like a normal human being

he doesn't have the technical foundation to compete in Big mountain, people like Hugo have the racing and technical background to properly ski the terrain, but then maybe Tanner isn;t planing on competing in Big Mountain or maybe it just pisses me off that i could rip a BC line better than Tanner could i just don't have nearly the amount of connections to get the right oppurtanitys

yep, and it didn't say he was quitting park skiing. He propbably wants to embrace all of skiing just like we all should. I live in the midwest and skiing park alot, but when i go to CO skiing pow is so much more fun than the park. Dont worry Tanner isn't quitting park skiing

A waste of talent to go do big mountain? I think most people think of it the other way around: Wast of talent to only do park and jibs.

I COMPLETLY AGREE

i dont get it at all. park, urban and backcountry booters is where skiing is headed and is at right now so why try to force yourself to be a big mtn skier when you're not?? he obviously feels pressured to try and have a "more rounded" skiing image which is bullshit its called freeskiing you can do whatever u want

I think big mtn is boring to watch even though I respect it and I know it takes balls and has more consequences then park most of the time.

You dont understand you ski on the East Coast. Where park is the best thing you have. Well when you have soft powder landings, it makes shit 100 times more fun. And I guarentee you Tanner will still do urban.

go skiing, have fun, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

least favorite park of ski movies for me is the big mountain shit, they always talk tons, the music is slower, and its just people crusing really fast and they look really really small.

Don't worry, for every amazing park skier to take on the big mountains there will be about 20 more just as amazing park skiers to take his place.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HOLY FUCK

please tell me you have never ever ever skied outside of the east. please oh please. im ashamed of you and any other so called "skier" that thinks tanner or ANYONE for that matter should stick to park. beeeeahhhhhh, fuck my mind is having a very hard time trying to put to words the frustration and confusion im feeling rite now. anyone that has any ability to ski (real skiing, not this fancy dancy spinny raily grabage you park rats have down), anyone who understands proper body positioning, how to actually carve a ski, ect, knows how goddamn fucking amazing it is to just ski. all mtn, groomers, whereeverthe fuck. just skiing. big mtn skiing is a whole nother level. anyone whos stood up top a true line knows what im talkin about. man, ahhhhhhhh, i dont understand you ignorant people. big mtn skiing is the most intense insane exilirating skiing a person can get. for somone like tanner whos killed the entire park scene this is the PERFECT move. skiing park must get borring, skiing real lines with real consiquences is such an amazing feeling. and dont say "oh im from the east, i dont get to ski big mtn, so therefore it sucks". thats just horrible ignorance. sure it may not be the most exciting to watch for people who have never been in the same situation and cannot comprehend what the skier is up against. but for that person and whoever else who knows how he/she feels, its the best you can get. fuckin christ, big mtn is the ULTIMATE park anyways (sans rails ofcourse). you have massive natural jumps all around you. in tanners (and anyone elses) case, why not learn how to better ski to the massive natural jumps offerd in big mtn, hes already got the skills to throw down off the jumps, why not be able to ski to them properly too...

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh FUCK
