Fly fishing

Anybody have any tips for fly fishing? I just tried it not too long ago fishing for trout but I didn’t catch any. I was spooking the fish bc I was letting the fly land on the water too hard I think? I even tried some nymphs and streamers.

Float the line as you cast, keep your rod down as you follow it down stream, the second it starts to drag you need to re cast if your dry fly’ing. And honestly just time, takes awhile to learn the tricks of casting to not have it “slap” the water.

if ya really wanna catch fish

dont use the whippy stick

if ya want a life long journey of learning

well it shall provide

Learn to cast first. If your fly is slapping the water too hard you’re bringing the rod down too fast and too hard on the forward cast. Practice on a field or something with a bit of yarn on the end.
