How many NSer's are avid fly fishers during the off season? I think it's crazy fun and it amazes me how often you find out big name skiers & snowboarders who are avid fly fisherman.

Check these guys out ^ watch some of there fly fishing edits, all of them are amazing like our NS ski edits but they are on fly fishing. And they actually know how to utilize a GoPro. Watch "Wild N Clear" that's ones of my personal favorites!

I'm just getting into it and have only gone like 4 times, it's pretty awesome though ...

now would be a good time to start, snag a deal at back country on some decent complete set .. it's the off season and theirs a ton of deals

Why fly fish solely in the off season? You can get some pretty lunky fish during november and december. In fact you can pretty much catch fish all year round!

Well for me there isn't great fly fishing in Indiana and all my trips during November/December out west are skiing trips. So normally I don't get to much in season. That's why I worded it like that. I will be moving out to WY soon so bet I will be getting some insulated waders and hitting the water during winter!

that's what I'm saying, don't get me wrong I love to catch a nice bass. But fly fishing is a million times more enjoyable

You don't need reel casting to get a bass. Throw out a popper. It takes a little bit of skill to do it effectively but when you get it down it's pretty damn fun

I've been trying! I got some nice poppers and I've been attacking the same areas but nothing yet! Plus fly fishing is just more enjoyable in moving water but I will give it to you I'm on a mission to get a bass this way

Yeah it's way better in moving water but when you get those bass angry at the noise you can catch one like immediately with every cast

i fuckin love fly fishing dude. i like to put my rod in my kayak and run whitewater and fish on the way down. makes for an awesome day on the riv.

There's a multi page fly fishing thread out there, might be like 7 or 8 pages. Super stoke in there, take a look at it.

And I've been fly fishing for the better part of 4 years. Never gets old, ever

Living close to Lake Placid I get to fly fish quite often, some amazing fishing on the Ausable river. Though nothing like catching small mouths using drop shot senkos on lake champlain. I will always love my spinning and baitcasting more.

I took a 3 week camping trip, (2 people in a mustang) to Yellowstone from IN. It was the best fishing of my life!!! And I understand where ya coming from, but fly fishing is just so much more involved & exciting!

I caught a pretty decent carp on my 8wt the other day, I haven't whooped out the 5wt to try bass fishing yet. I think I shall try this weekend and see if I can get anything!

Okay hell yeah I will look into it! And I agree never ever gets old!! And I love being in the outdoors especially to some of the amazing places/rivers it can take you.

Does anyone have an extra 9' 5wt rod they would sell at a decent price?

Preferably 4 piece but 2 piece would be okay

(Don't have a little carry case for mine and I went to put it in my car the other day to do some winter smallie fishing and moved my seat back and snapped the mother fucker right in half)

Got a four piece which is perfect for hiking and stuff. keep it behind the seat in my truck. above the shotgun. bust it out when the vegan police aren't looking.

I fish a lot during the summer and fall, but any day it's over freezing here I'm usually out on the river, too. I just started getting into winter fishing this year, and it is great! I never see anyone else on the river, around here (Bozeman) it's usually sunny and beautiful, and I've actually been catching a lot of fish.

hey, me and my roomy have been getting into winter fishing this year as well. We have just been hitting the missouri below holter. (since were in great falls) but havent been having a ton of luck. were trying streamers, nymphs and san juan worms but its pretty slow for us. we were talking about making a trip down to bozo to fish around there over presidents day weekend. Any suggestions that you wouldnt mind sharing?

6 wt????? I caught a 16-18 inch like 2-3 pounder this summer on a 6'6" 3 wt. eagle claw featherweight or something. the little yellow bastard for 25 bones ha. Was an awesome fight.

Smallie bass fishing with a fly rod from a kayak with beers is an ideal summer afternoon.

^Try and avoid playing fish to total exhaustion, please. It's probably not a big deal in a lake, but in a river that can mean certain death for the fish.

Wasn't even that long of a fight honestly. and it was a pig of a bass so I doubt he died from it. I see your point though and usually adhere to more strict fishing morals when it comes to trout around here as we hardly even have a handful of creeks that holdover trout in my area.

I actually stopped trout fishing in the summer this year due to the recommendations of a bunch of guys on PAflyfish.com. Great site for any keystone state fly fisherman, or any fly fisherman for that matter. Its not exactly the Drake but it's pretty good anyway ya slice it.
