Flooding vs ski resorts

the flooding in the east rn is absolutely bending and spreading every ski resort right now. But its not just taking the snow.. its also fucking up some shit pretty bad. sunday river has a landslide going through one of the smaller lodges at barker, and the north peak lift has some towers down and theres a 20 foot canyon going through the north peak road right at the bottom of dreammaker, which may cut off dreammaker from reaching south ridge at all..

overall should be interesting to see how sunday river handles this. I wonder if they will need to relocate the park since t72 is now left with no lift, even though they never really ran north peak anyway but now they cant serve t72 from south ridge either...

or in character with sunday rivers upper management, maybe they will just ditch parks all together. However personally, i think lollapalooza would be a great trail for a park...
 
damn that's fucked. send pics? not familiar with SR trail names but luckily the map on my wall helped me. why doesn't t72 have a lift? is it being renovated or sum.

^^^ this is at the bottom of north peak.. road is totaled.

This is the gould comp center at barker. That big window in the middle is symmetrical to a big window on the other side.. the landslide went right threw. I suspect if those windows had been solid wall the building wouldve slid a good 400 yards down into the parking lot. i wonder if the architects did that on purpose.

the t72 lift is the north peak quad.. which i hear has multiple lift towers down. I really doubt they'll be able to fix it anytime soon since the road to the bottom of that lift and all the condos is not passable.

yea that road is gone fs.. and several others above it are too. Sunday river will likely not open for quite a while. They said they'll be closed tomorrow already but I suspect it will be a lot longer than that

Yeah shitload of rain on top of already saturated ground, I’m about to go check out the kennebec river it’s flooding at 20ft and still going up, so glad I live on a hill rn lol
 
Holy shit, I saw some stuff on Instagram but didn't really realize how bad it was.

Sucks too because parking up the Barker road was the best place to park. Jerries/Tourists didn't know about it and you could ski right to/from your car.

Gunna be up there all next week, hopefully I'll be able to ski something?

Road shouldn't take too long to make passable, but I doubt that lift will run this season.

I feel like it's doubtful they'll get absolutely everything back up and running. It took southern vt/ludlow at least a week to get things passable after water level fell back below normal. Who knows i'm saying January 1st. They had all hands on deck with DOT and subcontractors too. It's going to take a lot more than the maintenance team to clean all this up. The fact a state of emergency hasn't been called is crazy

Im a local at sunday river and one of my friends who lives a little closer told me... but I havent seen any pictures so i think he may have been smoking crack. I guess we'll find out
 
I think he’s smoking crack, I was walking around up there today. Didn’t look like any towers went down, the road going up to north peak condos and stuff is fucked

I doubt lift 6 got damaged too badly, theres that canyon/stream right after tower 4 but I think it's pretty far uphill in a way I don't think it would have washed the tower

the new barker 6 and lift 11 on the other hand...

yea the bottom of the barker 6 building was entirely washed, river flowing hard around it on either side, and a lot of damage to the left of the barker lodge just past that as well. No idea whats going on over at lift 11 but I know the turnoff to the grand summit hotel is cut in half, and thats right below lift 11
