seen this before with different objects, they're hanging by a fishing wire.

another guy did it with a fishing wire taped to a dollar bill. he'd let it float there for a second, then be like, "oh, my bad" and grab it out of the air ripping the tape off and handing it to the girl haha

He's not actually bringing his hand directly over the top of the straw (where the line runs through) the people in the window are far and stupid enough that all he needs to do is put his hand over a third of the lid so it appears his hand is actually going over the cup but he is still a half inch of so shy of hitting the wire
