Flips

I have been skiing park for 2 years and have decided it's about time I go for some flips on snow. I was just wondering what flips I should try first. I have already tried a front flip but I crashed really badly. I will be trying them on a jump that is 25-30 foot.

thanks

this was my order:

1. backy

2. front

3. lincoln

4. flat 3

5. cork 5(tried twice landed once. never again.)

6. misty

7. rodeo

My order:

1. frontflip

2. backflip

3. flat 3

4. lincoln

5. rodeo

6. corks (learning now)

ive found this is the best order for me and many other skiers

1. 180

2. 360

3. 540

4. backflips

5. frontflips

6. lincolns

7. flat 3s

8. corks

9. whatever your heart desires

Do the flips you are most comfortable with on a tramp.

My order went

1. Frontflips

2. Lincolns (don't do these anymore)

3. Underflips (don't do these anymore either)

4. Rodeo 5s

5. Flat 3s

6. Backflips.

Very odd order for me.

My order

1. Tramp (gain air awareness + feel)

2. Sideflip (tried 4 times on a 5ft jump i built)

3. Cork 5/7 (landed one 5, then lost it. did a cork 690 to faceplant. just started dropping shoulder on 5s on a day with some fresh snow)

4. Jumps melted.

5. Hit rails with not enough snow.

flat 3 for me was first.... then rod 5 then backies.. smashed hard on cork 7s. i just sacked up once the snow was soft in the spring

Back flip, definitely the simplest to throw especially for a first flip. This kinda goes with out saying but try and get out there on an early season pow day, build yourself a custom back flip jump, and give it a whirl. The biggest issue most people have with their first flip, is not fully committing. And you really don't want to not commit and land topsy-tervy on a park jump.

well what tricks can you do?

I can do spins up to 720 but I'm more of a rail skier.

Im at thredbo on sunday but ill be there saturday

I were really comfortable with misty's on trampoline, so I went for it. Do what you are most comfortable with. When you've got it down, everything will be less frightening and you will master new tricks fast.

Just fuck it, and huck it!

Backflips are probably the easiest even if theyre scarier. I learned them first. All you really have to do is look up and back. Touching your knees helps the first couple times or if its a small jump

My order:

1. Frontflip

2. Backflip

3. lincoln (I was trying flat 3 but I was setting it wrong)

4. Flat 3

5. Rodeo 5

6. Switch rodeo 5

Frontflip is a very good trick to do your first flip because its not scary at all and you can work your way up to doing it by forward rolls on your skis

Backflip! So fun! I learned them this year. Front flips are fun to but I found them harder then a backflip....

1. Backflip

2. Front flip

3. Lincoln (learning)

My order is really strange haha

Front flip

Attempted rodeo 5

Flat 3

switch rodeo 5

Switch flat- landed once don't know how I did it

Cork 7

Unnatural flat 3

Unnatural cork 7

for a first flip i recommend flat 3 or backie, it depends on what you like the most. some of my friends prefer doing flat 3 because your head doesnt go completely upside down but i prefer the feeling of a backflip.

backflip its a no brainer

also sack up and get that front. your attempts will keep getting better if you take the time to fix what you did wrong

I have had a lot of recommendations for a back flip but the thing is I really suck at them so I'll probably be trying a front flip or rodeo 5 tommorow

the thing with backflips vs frontflips is that a backflip is actually easier because you can spot your landing while a frontflip is a bit harder because its pretty much blind but its alot less scary. personally I tried frontflips first but now that I can do both on tramp backys are so much easier. but its up to you

God damn some of your posts piss me off more than yoskis.

But my order was

1.misty 5

2. fronty

3. underflip

A lot of people are saying to nut-up and do a backflip, but honestly IDK if you need to do one. I did my first backflip after doing every other trick. Rodeo was my first flip trick because they were just a lot more comfortable for me. I think you should do what feels most comfortable so that you will keep trying. When you get it probably feel more comfortable to try something else. At least that's how it worked for me.
