Flippant: shirts with upside down pockets

Yo, I've been on NS a while, posting less in recent years but lurking about as often as a peeping tom. Recently started working on this project with my brother and some close friends and I'm sharing it with y'all.

If you could give this kickstarter a quick look, share it with your friends if it tickles your fancy.

either you get it or you don't!

I don't either. Maybe you were in a backflip induced coma for a few days but the 1st of april came and went and we're at the 5th now.

Also, you need 12,500 to start a company sewing a random piece of fabric pocket on a shirt you bought?

What is the money going to? New gear, trip to SA, lyposuction? Just curious.

I really don't understand the random fabric pocket on a normal shirt trend anyway.

Good question.

We can get local seamstresses to do small orders of say, 10 shirts no problem. However, this takes up to 4 weeks just to get a pocket sewn on, and the quality is meh, and the max order is less than 20.

Short answer: To get a factory to make shirts, you need a minimum order of around 100, per style.

Couldn't you just get a sewing machine for now?

We have one, and a lot of prototypes, but the cost is sooooooo much cheaper getting them at a factory

I haven't been able to post this in a while, thank you OP.

I dont really wear clothing like this but I know plenty of people who do/would. And good for you guys for having an original idea to separate yourselves from all the other people who make a "clothing company" but just print their logo on shirts and shit. Good job

Um, original? There have been a bunch of people making these tshirts with a random fabric pocket the last few years. Only difference is that the pocket is upside down.

I'm down with people going for whatever business they want but I feel a 12.5k donation business plan for a company that's selling tshirts with a piece of fabric sewn on is kind of insane.

With something that you could literally start doing with a sewing machine, as it takes off expand etc. Everyone these days wants to be at the top right from the beginning.

Maybe I'm just a hater idk. I just see all these crowdfunders for everything these days and thing WUT.

the cost is so much cheaper eh?

you're charging $20 for a ringspun cotton t shirt with a double stitched useless pocket. The shirts designs aren't thought out (hell it's probably a hanes tee that you got for 3 dollars a pop and random spools of fabric you got from a thrift store. Don't make me laugh any more please, i might pee myself.

Don't be such a hater! Their dad told them to do something with their lives and get a job so they decided to start a business, aka collect 12.5k(small sum of money) to hand make high quality products that people will love. There's nothing like this out there, it's a completely new idea. You're probably just jealous you didn't think of it first.

Maybe some sarcasm in there.

I'm not even hating on the hustle. I just hate the way people go about starting a business these days. What ever happened to putting everything you have into something, working your ass off to make it happen, expanding as money comes in and business grows. I just don't get somebody can ask for TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS for a business that only involves sewing a random fabric pocket upside down onto a standard cheap as fuck tshit. Get a sewing machine, get some tshirts, you can get tons of random fabric scraps for free or dirt cheap. Cut the pocket, sew them on. Get a cheap sewing machine, borrow one from your grandma or something.

Everybody wants to make money and have a "business" without doing any work. It just doesn't make sense to me.

I hope it's just a late april fools joke.

It blows my minds that this will probably make the 12.5k goal. Also wondering if one of them through in the 1k themselves.

TWELVE AND A HALF THOUSAND UNITED STATES DOLLARS for a fucking tshirt with an upside down pocket sewn on.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore

Start sewing them yourself and when the demand is that high and you can fund having a factory do it. Doing it this way you are just going to end up with 12k worth of Tshirts that nobody wants.

Exactly what we did. We've been making these shirts for about 6 months. Started out with Gildan shirts but quickly changed to a heavier, higher quality ringspun cotton.

We first sewed them on our own, then with help from local seamstresses. The turnaround time was too slow to keep up with demand, and the quality and consistency of the sewing and screen printing is much better with a factory, so we are using Kickstarter to get to the minimum order we need.

how long does it take to sew on a pocket? surely not more than 5 minutes. ill give you 10 mins max.

if its one person, at 10 minutes you can sew 48 shirts in a day. 240 in a week. are you selling more than 240 a week?

That would require way to much effort, its a lot easier to just have people give you money to pay for someone else to do it.

Isn't the price to manufacture built into the price you are selling the shirt for? It seems like you just want to profit 100% off sales and not have any manufacturing cost. If you actually thought this was a good idea and had faith in your brand you would put more effort into your company and not need kickstarter.

Are you tired of not having anything to wipe your face off after masturbating upside down? Are you frustrated that you have no where to wipe your hands until you get right side up? Well, today is your lucky day! Introducing Flippant! The shirt that has a pocket upside down. This way when you are jacking off upside down you can wipe your face off whenever you want. Just reach into your pocket and bam! There you have it.

That will be $250 for writing your infomercial.

I hate kickstarter it allows horrible ideas and products to be made by lazy people who can't do it on their own.

For real man up and make the products yourself have some pride in your product. instead of being lazy and having some Chinese factory pump them out. I use to work with an embroidery machine and I could easily make over 500 of those a day and you could too.

Dude, you are literally the biggest bum on this site. Don't act like you are consistently throwing everything you have into a business and losing it all because I bet the most risky job youve had is working at nordstrom for commission. Like seriously their idea is stupid as fuck and id never invest, but i have no doubt these kids work hard and try to actually do things instead of saying their gonna move to tahoe every year and really just end up at the same dead end cashier job in the burbs.

You try making a stupid idea and play off how dumb people are. Its fun as shit and these guys are gonna be laughing at you all the way to the bank.

If the demand was so high why don't you reinvest all your profits. IF the pocket isn't ab;e to hold anything it seems like the only thing that matters is it being attached. With a sewing machine you could make a couple hundred of these a day. If your demand is that high that 50+ of these things a day isn't keeping up with the demand, and you don't have any profit to invest, you might need to adjust your strategy.

You buy the shirts for x, and sell them for y. Your only additional cost really is the one time cost of a cheap sewing machine if you couldn't borrow one.

So not really sure where this is all going wrong if "The turnaround time was too slow to keep up with demand".
