Hey everyone

Just a quick question hopefully someone will reply to this by the end of the day. My flights been booked from Canada to Auckland for awhile but i havent gotten around to booking my flight from Auckland to Christchurch, ussually i fly straight from LA to ChCh. My question do the short haul flights in NZ freak out about bagage being overwieght, i never have problems on International flights but i am flying with 3 pairs of skiis and a pretty big bag. I don't want to be to suprised when i get there. Also ive found flights for 120 one way through Qantas there bag they say is 20kg which is pretty under what i have, anyone know of any cheaper flights?

I flew once with Air NZ to Auckland from CHCH but it was because my plane to LA was cancelled and i had to be re routed at the last min, because of the panic to get to my plane they didnt' care about my bagagge

hey man,

as far as i know,

if yourv got skis with you they come under a sporting goods allowance,

meaning as long as there all packaged up correctly, you dont have to worry about weight or length for them.

and then you can just sweet talk the lady at the checkin about your big bag.

peace

well last time i flew from New plymouth to auckland to CHCH i was over by like 7kg, and they where all good. Yeah you will be able to sweet tak the cheack out lady. Just wear you boots onto the plane if anything. haha

hmm, thanks for the help guys, i just hate being stung at the last min, ive been pretty good with domestics here in Canada except for Quebec were they have stung me pretty bad with overwieght. Ill just pull the poor athlete card that has helped me a lot in my travels when i used to race

yeah all the best man, should be easy to get thru, we all pretty laxed out in NZ,

one more thing, burr why did you fly from new plymouth up to auckland, turn around and then all the way down ChCH?

woulden it make more sense to go to Wellington?

Paul,

Auckland are generally pretty sweet about kit, however be prepared to get stung dude, choose very carefully who you go to at the counter, the nice people will just wave it through, dumb people won't and you'll get nailed. It's about $5 a kg for anyting over 20, we got hammered last time we flew with bikes. I fly pretty often, every 2 weeks or so and it all depends who you get at the desk.

Might be worth looking at shipping it down to yourself - could be cheaper than flying with it?

120 is a pretty good price for a one-way flight, Qantas tend to put the deals on, Air NZ are fuckers, straight up

Drop me a line before you come to AKL, we'll hook up for a beer and a PPP yarn, werd...

Air New Zealand were going to charge $210 from chch to rotarua for 20kg's. To courier it, it was only $50 from wanaka to rotarua.

well im in Auckland waiting for my flight to leave for ChCh in half an hour. No worries at all about heavy baggage had some trouble in Vancouver but managed to talk the check in lady out of it giving her a huge spwell about my team (im not on a team) being sponsored by air canada and that they never charge me and she bought it, even gave me a some extra leg room with an emergancy exit seat. Saved my self 80 bucks canadian on that one. So yeah why the hell did they put the international terminal and the domestic terminal so far apart? im always beat when i have to carry all my shit from one side to another espically when i have to do it at 5:30 am

if you are travelling international, airlines will let u away with the intnat baggage limit so like 30kgs is it these days? or they more stinge?
