Flight 93

okay for those that haven't heard universal is putting out a film called 'flight 93' - about the 9/11 flight that went down. is it just me or is it waaaaaaaaaaay too soon to be pulling in fat profits for this kind of thing. oliver stone is also in the works to put together a 9/11 twin towers movie. isn't this kind of pathetic and i mean they are making money off of terrorism and unless they give it some poignancy and insight into the whole the thing, i see it as utterly pointless.

they will probably make the terrorists look like douchebags, and the people on the flight look like heroes, so it wouldent really be that bad. it would prbably educate people more on what happened anyways.

they had a movie\documentary on flight 93 on the discovery chanel. their really trying to make some money by making movies about these events.

they make movies about anything.

WW2, Vietnam, pearl harbour, titanic, mass murderers, rapists, tragedy's,

tsunamis, eartquakes. its all fair in the movies. maybe they will give some of the money to a chariy or people who need it.

But the wars you mentioned, little to no people alive have experienced that.. with the exception of vietnam, which was not a war that was really supported anyway.

And about the natural disasters, they weren't telling an actual story about a specific event, it is rather like sci-fi thriller with no real story to base it on.

I would ahve to agree with Ian, he IS the movie man, haha (DL), but not only for that reason. i think the event was way to close to start making corporate gains off of. There were CHILDREN who wouldn't even be 10 years old who died. It is just way too soon.

LA Earthquake, Oakland San Fran Earthquake

The Plane that fell into the Icy Potomic River in Washington, John Lennon Movie,

Waco Texas, Oaklahoma Bombing movie,

Mount St Helens, (people died), Amtrac train crash movies, Numerous Plane crash movies. Bernardo Hamolka rape torture movie. ect, ect. And give it a year or 2 and ther will be a movie about the Coal mining accident & Hurricane Katrina

Supposedly, the Oliver Stone film will not be a blockbuster, money sucking whore of a film. The other I know nothing about.

I don't know if there's any given period of time which dictates the offensiveness of a movie topic.

I don't think about 9/11 that frequently. Under the premise that I am an average American, perhaps the latter suggests people have already "forgotten."

right but the issue is different with 9/11 because it was an attack on a national identity. natural disasters have no human force driving them and wars are to a certain extent a choice as far as individuals who have died, well whats the point in drawing comparison its just one person. the only thing that can compare to 9/11 is pearl harbor and correct me if i am wrong, but they waited a bit before making anything about that one. it has nothing to do with what other films have been made, its about WHEN - how long afterward. of course its a relative thing, i mean the tsunami although a natural disaster, killed a fuckton of people and making anything about that right now or any time soon is in my opinion, incredibly tasteless and insensitive.

the big debate about these 9/11 films is, are people going to want to see these films. will new yorkers or anyone with any connection to the experience have any reason to relive something in the cinema - made by people who had nothing to do with it - all over again. but most likely it will come down to marketing, theres a good chance that they may go for the 'if you're an american you need to see this' route. eitherway if its a bad film, its an even bigger blow to the sanctity of the whole thing.

Well.. it took 33 years for them to make a movie about munich... I guess they are just trying to get ahead of the bunch.

Either that or its because the entire film industry lacks any kind of creativity...

^mr moore showed how dumb and red neck bush is.....AND i am not being a idiot who hasnt seen the movie... i have seen it 7 times....but who cares there was bound to happen.....the thing is...in the middle east a big earth quake happend killing tons of epople and there was maybe a hour long new cat.......but when bad things happen in america its on the news for so long(that was a little offff topic but its a point mr moore makes in his movie.....just watch the news u willl c)

It is way to early. I say maybe have it come out for the 10 year aniversary or something.

yes we do, because WE ARE AT WAR if you forgot that small fact. Of course theyre going to push the movie, if they dont get something done to rally the states, they will lose their grip as world leader, china will take over taiwan, vietnaw, korea, and possibly japan. Taiwan alone will allow china to become the worlds Number one power. and then They invade canada. And i believe it will be within our lifetime.

Rally the troops, and thats how america does it. debatable for sure, but hey, thats hollywood

Look no offense, but I can't find any respect for a man who has forged interviews.

The reason the middle east doesn't get coverage is because its not us. You think stations around the world showed more about Katrina then we did about the tsunami and Pakistani earthquake? Fuck no. Let's get it straight it's human nature to be greedy, and we may not be trying to be greedy by showing the interests of ourselve but we do.

I don't care how many times you say Bush is dumb, but in order to graduate from Yale you can't be considered "dumb". He knows his politics better than anyone on this site. I am not a Bush fan by the way.

It's something that is pushing what we define in America as "moral" I respect the creators for having such a strong ambition, but I worry this film will be taken the wrong way and portrayed incorrectly if factual(but how do we really know what happened)...

Your ideas = radical, theoretical, and really paranoid. I think you have to realize theres no way the US would allow this to happen. We are way to arrogant to let someone try and step up. China is the number one economic power, but theres no way they will ever invade Canada. Just because you eat a lot of shrooms doesn't mean the world is coming to an end...

.

yes it does. and yes it is.

there are many thoughts between sentences there, i just dont want to spend 30 min tryping what it takes me to say in 3 min. china wont invade canada. unless they have to to take over the states. Which may happen soon. Dude, look at the spectrum of time. IN the last 50 years, weve DOUBLED our population and in the last 20, we have jumped in leaps and bounds, china has super rocketed to the forefrunt of technology when they aquired hong Kong, in i believe it was 97. What do you think the Vietnaw war was about? You dont think japan is still bitter about having 2 nukes dropped on them? Yes. When china says go to was with them and join us, or go to was with them against us. They probably wont go after Russia, theyre still pretty dangerous. In 100 years, this will probably happen. Maybe a few times. you're a fool if you think weve seen the last of nukes. A FOOL.

PS. HOW THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW.

WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW.

you cant discredit my story, and im not trying to credit it.

entertain yourself any play with it. What happens when the US attacks the CHinese water supply, a fragile target (relativley.) the yangtzee river dam is a major target, and would be enough for china to expand inwards, and inwards, chasing the limited water in their country. They would go to war for a pieve of canada, and the US will take the rest. Euroupe, possibly france will claim Quebec, the states will claim Alberta, Canada will be divided, BC going to USA or Russia, OR China/Japan. Are you so foolish and blind that you dont think this will happen? That we have enough resources to sustain? now thats scary. YOu should know about it, its a battle for the world, and you need to realize that. weather borders are erased physically, or economically, erased in some book, becimg secret parts of a bigger power/country. South america has the resources, the Rainforest, which is a rich resource, also tragically valuable.

africa ... india and the middle east will probably battle over it, notice how America is fighting over there right now.

Halliburton got the control of the iraquis oil.

Hmmm,

so you know what, why dont you just run with it instead of tryin to tell me im paranoid and radical, and entirely theoretical. EVERYONES IDEAS ARE THEORETICAL.

dont you get it

"You dont think japan is still bitter about having 2 nukes dropped on them? Yes. When china says 'Hey Japan go to war with them (USA) and join us, or go to war with them(USA) against us"

You think its all about the money. They want the world to know the story of what happened to those poor people and how brave they were. ITS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY YOU FOOL.

china will not attack the united states, nor will it attack canada.

why would you attack the most - mititarily speaking - powerful nation in the world. why try to take over americas assets when you could simply do what we've done in the past, steal from someone smaller than you. china simply needs to locate another country that is not in league with the united states and take control of their resources. a nation never needs to work harder than it has to, why start with the nastiest wolf in the pack when you could simply take out the weakest.

if water supply becomes a neccessity there is still a great portion of the world to conquer, dont forget africa.

He himself said he was a "C Student." The only reason he was able to get into yale and graduate is because of a form of affirmative action called legacies.

alpine, i know, thats what i meant about taiwan, korea, etc. the US may or may not step in if china makes a move against one of these important nations.

they'll have to sometime though. America is quickly losing hold on number 1 position militarily, if you havent noticed, and Americas debt is really hurting their economy.

The future loks bleak for the US.

china doesnt give a shit about canada.

in 100 years there will be another war. another big war.

I just saw the movie today, i was impressed, it seems like a pretty accurate representation with no apparent bias, it was pretty moving

^ ya i saw it last week. it really made me think and at the end everyone was just silent.... i think it was great.

i thought it was called united 93

the movie is done very well, and gives many of us a nessicary perspective on the events that took place that day.

none of us were on any of those planes, and the movie gives a good feeling of what those people went through.

if you go see this movie, do not buy snacks or drinks, it will only make you feel guilty for trying to watch this movie as entertainment which it's not.

this movie is to let you have more of an understanding, much like munich but a lot more personal.

i walked out of the theauter at the end not saying a word but thanking my self for seeing it.

my only concern is that this movie will stir up a lot of the xenophobia that came from that day. don't let it do that to you. just remember not all muslims and middle easter people are terrorists, so don't be an assholel about it, just remeber.
