flex?

ok so i have been skiing on nordica z tt's and those are the only skis i can remeber skiing since i was a tota dn i am thinking about getting 4frnt msp 160's so i am told my skis are very flexy and that 4frnts are pretty stiff how will this affect my riding on all parts of the mountaina and is stiffer bad for aspiring jibber?

they will hold an edge better if they are stiff i think. but how tall are you cuz 160 is extremely short

you should go 170 and grow into them, as long as you are a pretty good skier and can handle it.

^Even if he isn't a good skier, he'll get better. buying MSPs shorter than 170 is a bad idea... it's a bit insulting. Other skis, yeah, but MSPs... it's as if they made a 166 Pollard Pro. It's just not right.

Oh wait. They did.

yeah i have been told that, i have skied on my nordica 150's for like 3 years now and i am like the best skier in my school which isnt saying anyhting at all cuz i live in fucking maine but i need to work on carving alot also and get good form as well as tricks and i think that becasue the 160's are quite a bit thinner too plus cooler graphics i will stick wit um

and i only weigh like 115

Wow, ok, 160s almost make sense then... I'd still reccommend at least 165, because you're going to get bigger I assume (unless you're a midget). If you're decent, you can handle them.

wait are saying other skis would be fine with shorten than 170 but msps no becasue of the brand and there reputation or is there actually somthign worng with getting shorter msps

yeah well i am not a mifget but i also plan to buy new skis within two seasons of my purcahse and the other thing is that i know u want big skis for like stable landing and mnore speed and stuff but going to sugarloaf i dont get to many chances to get insane air so inst it better to have samller skis if i will only be making like 10foot hits?

Nothing really wrong with them, they're the same ski. I mean, they're designed for the 180 length. But they'll work well. But you're in Maine... why are people reccommending 4frnts for you? Any reason?

True, but on the east coast, those skis are a bit fat for your icy groomers. Plus, they're really pricey for something you're gonna have to replace in a couple of seasons, tops. There are better skis for park, and all around, too. At your weight, even soft skis should handle pretty well.

so what skis might u guys recommend for a aspiring jibber on the east cost whos 5'5 115pounds and as long as its not insane money isnt as problem

i was considering line maverick 160's but everyone told me the 4frnt would be far far better but they prolly werent thinking aobut the fact that i live in maine and am not exactly harcore...........yet

Glad you asked.

D-Structure Proshop

2004 Line 1260s, available in 164 length. They cost almost nothing, so if you want to get a longer ski at the end of next season, you won't be broke. That is what I would reccomend doing. That's the cheap option, and I'd reccommend it for that reason. Buying expensive skis that you're not gonna want soon is throwing money away. But if you really don't care about the cash:

Dynastar Trouble Makers

Available in 165cm. Trendy ski around here, most people seem to like them. Some people have damaged them, but considering your weight, I doubt you can do much to them, and they should perform well. Alternatively:

Head Mad Trix

Available in 163 cm. Absolutely unbreakable, I don't care what you do to them. These aren't to mojos, so they should handle well on the groomers. They're pretty stiff, so I don't know what the flex of your former skis were, but these are comparable to MSPs as far as flex goes. Probably a little bit stiffer.

Those are all cheaper than MSPs. Now, I'm all for supporting core companies, but there's no point in just randomly buying skis if they aren't going to work any better than something that will cost less.

ok so i still like line mavericks can anyone tellme how good they are for a somwhat jibber who rides allmountian and like glkades and some powder?

Hearsay: Mavericks kinda suck... new skiers don't really notice their deficiencies, apparently, but all of the experienced people I know who've tried them haven't liked how they feel. They're Line's entry level ski, so they're inexpensive, but you might as well get a park destroyer like the 1260. For old Lines, if you can find 2002 Darksides, those are great skis.

I resent the midget comment somewhat. Im 5'5 and 3/4 and I weigh 115 lbs, and im not going to get any bigger.

i guess im being kindoff a fag because all i know is they look pimpin and thats pretty much what makes me want them all i hjave ridden are my nordica z tt's which suppposedly are good

z tt's = not twins = out of our realm of expertise... but yeah, I don't think the graphics really justify buying a product that won't work as well. Lots of skis have good graphics.

Portoricocheeko, it would be a wise and respectable decision to ditch the Line Mavericks. Do not base your judgement on graphics, because that is a huge mistake. Buying skis is about finding the right pair that fits your riding style, and your type of skiing, not the colors on top of your sticks that will 99% of the time be covered in snow anyways. J.D. gave you some excellent recommendations, personally I would go with the Head Mad_Trix. Buy a cheaper ski than the MSP, that is extremely durable. Because you are an 'aspiring jibber' as you put, these will stay with you for a while, and when you want to buy another pair, you'll still have these boards to use as all-mountain/rail skis/uraban skis...They are a trusty companion to have along with you. Look into those. Try to demo them first, but if you are really stuck on getting them this summer, than make sure you check them out more, make sure the decision is right for you.
