Flex Tongues

Hey NS,

I ride a 27.5 descendant 4 and for next year I'm trying to get stiffer boots so I can get more leverage when doing butters. I'm 5 10 and 150 lbs. Should I go with a 6 or an 8 flex or just send it and go to 10

how the fuck can you need more flex in your boot if you're already only using a 4 flex?

Sorry I meant something more stiff, so I have more leverage while applying pressure when buttering

yeah I did wonder wtf you meant, for buttering you need pretty solid boots, honestly I'd just get new ones all together rather than modifying decendant 4s, those things must be made out of bubblegum

do you know what the plush 4s are in comparison to decendants? they look pretty similar

just looked and they look exactly the same

idk tho cause plush 4s are womens but they look the same with all the specs and stuff

Hey man I have descendant 6's. Threw 8 flex tongues in them and I havent gone back. Dont think I'd want a 10 either.

I'm 5'11 155-160.

Get the 8s. They really do help and the shells are the same across descendants in terms of flex. Liner on the 4's is pretty shit tho. You have insoles? They definitely help lock your heel and ankle in as well for buttering.

Hey thanks man, yeah I have insoles but I'm probably gonna try the 8

Dude if you want to do proper butters just send it and go for the 10. It's the only way you'll be able to get the most out of your skis flex rating

I am the same size and I can flex my arv 96's very well with my descendant 6's. I probably would be more stable in 8's tho. Both would be a fine choice

I find the 10 flex to be soft at times. I’d be really interested to try out some 12s

Yep? Interesting. Where on the hill do you find them too soft? (Park, big mountain etc...?)

I'm set on getting the First Chair 10s next winter, I'm planning on skiing HARD. Will 10s not be enough?
