Flatspins/Rodeo's before backflips?

I have seen people on here that do flat spins and/or rodeos before back fliping a lot. Is this just a weird thing or is it easy to do them before backflipping?

I learned fronts,rodeos, and flat 3s before I learned backflips. I didn't conquer my fear of backflips until I spent an entire day throwing backflips out the end of a halfpipe.

i first did a frontflip, rodeo 5, 3, bio 7, misty 7 and then cork 7, but i still cant do a straight backflip, its too hard to fully commit to that trick
