i was skiing the other day and tried a flatspin my tips hit the knuckle and i went face first down the landing. it didnt hurt but i dont want to do it again. any tips and pointers on how to flatspin? any help would be great.

keep compact and try to do a 180 to backflip while rotating a bit off your axis for that 180. keep your eyes on the landing.

i always thought it was like you did 1/4 of a backflip, like got onto your back, and then spun a lincoln.like a ninja turtle on his back spinning but tucked up and pimp as fuck

I thought flat spins were more like a lincoln loop 180.  I think weak mistys are bios.  But I could be wrong.

^^Lincoln 180 is more rodeo-ish.

Alright. Try these on a trampoline first for sure.

You have to practice these on a tramp A LOT before it becomes a natural movement. You have to take it step by step.

1. Pop. Make sure you get a good pop

2. Go to about 90 degrees (a little off axis), and then throw a backflip.

I know this doesn't sound like what the trick looks like in real life, but once the trick becomes natural on the trampoline, then all of these movements will look like a true flatspin. At first when you learn it, you have to break down these movements one by one and then once you understand the trick, it will become one fluid motion.

I haven't tried them on snow yet but I have them pretty much dialed on tramps so any day now when i grow some nuts i will try it.

best way to learn shit is off a cliff into a river or lake or whatever.
super duper fun and good to learn. not making it around might suck... oh well.

no do not do that. if you think backflip u will underflip. take it from me. to this day i have to be able to execute a rodeo or flatspin cuz ive done so many misties and underflips. The best way is learn the lincoln/barrel roll/ side flip first then go from then there. learn the original flip in which the axis is performed. That way you understand it more.

yeah, definitely, there is nothing bacfllip about a flat spin. just think about rolling around so that your back is paralell to the ground at 180 (definition of a flat spin right there). basically to learn one on the tramp, try just doing 180 landing on your back. make sense? once you've got that down just take it to the air and add on the other 360 for flat five.

for a flatspin 5 you need to set your rotation first, so set for a off axis 180, but at 90, throw a backflip. i know it seems retarded but its how it is done. one you come back around from teh back flip you will shill be at 90, but fisnishing off the 180 is no problem

remeber to grab japan to make it have that crazy jon olsson steeze.

its kinda like going cork except the following shoulder should be thrown up and around instead of following your shoulder down and around like a cork.

someone once told me that to do a flat 5 were u are spining to the left u lean to the right and think about throwing ur feet over ur left shoulder??? iss that right.

I just meant jumping off of a cliff into water... depending on how high it is.

I'd think a tramp or pool or a foam pit, would be a lot safer way to learn.
