I would say backflips are easier, I learned on a windlip into powder which is the easiest way. But any small-medium jump with a steep lip will work just make sure u have a soft landing and commit to it.
The trick is completely personal preference. Flat 3s are harder, backflips are scarier, pick what your comfortable with. The jump should be nothing more than a chest high kicker that gives you a second of air time.
no and no. a rodeo three would be a backlflip while doing a 360. A lincoln is flipping directly to your right or left with no spins. No such thing as a "sideflip" you probably mean underflip
That would be a d-spin 7 or back full. A "rodeo 3" doesn't really exist, I guess you could call a backflip a rodeo 3. These kinds of threads are always a mess.
Flatspins are harder, but they look better. I need to learn flats yet. Get the backflip into your bag of tricks first if you haven't done one though. Good luck.
Should you start tilting your shoulder towards the lip before you leave the jump? I can do side flips (I also call them Matrix flips from Neo in matrix) on tramp but a little unsure how to throw it on snow.
solid pop, dip the shoulder and wait for the rotation to come around, dipping your shoulder before the lip will probably cause you problems because you will be off balance when you start the rotation. It really comes down to what feels best though, if you can do it on a tramp you can do it on snow, It just take more commitment.
I learned backflips then flat 3s shortly afterwards. My friend Tanner learned flat 3s then backflips short afterwards. The two go hand in hand it's really just personal preferance as stated above. Do what feels easier.
Yah I guess I mean Lincoln Loop. So should I follow the same process as a backflip -- pop first and delay in the air for that first quarter to a half of a second before initiating the flip?
I guess on a tramp you do the same thing, you get your "air" aka pop delay just a half second and then throw it. I'm guessing you don't need as big of a lip as a back either since the skis are coming back to your feet quicker in theory?
yea exactly you want to pop and set your rotation in almost the same movement. Like you said you have a little more leeway to underrotate because you wont catch your tips but its still gonna hurt if you come down hard on your side.
