Can anyone explain to me exactly what a flat spin is,ive heard many difrent definitions of them,,,also how do you do one

its a spin where you stay on a flat plain you more or less do a rodeo with out goin inverted ... thats a really crued way to explain it

but to do one come at the jump and throw your shoulder forward as if you were checking someone in hockey and let your feet come around your body and drop back down under neith you to land switch

imagine flipping a turtle on it's back and spinning it around. that's your flatspin

to throw one, you need to throw your shoulder out and across in the direction you are spinning. it's hard to explain

I always kinda thought of it as a misty without completely throwing your legs over your head...

Your spin kinda goes off axis and you momentarily spin on a sideways axis before your feet complete the spin and fall back underneath you.

 
thats a bio, if i understand u fully. but its when u spin on your back in the air, basically. i dont feel like going into detail.

Throw it kinda like a lincoln, except throw your shoulder downhill instead of under you and set your rotation harder than you throw your shoulder down the hill (if that made any sense). at 180 you should be just about flat on your back, then at 270 you will be perpendicular to the ground and kinda on your side. That's when you spot you landing if you are doing a flat 5. Bring it around to 360, then keep looking at your landing and let your feet come back under you. If you send your shoulder down the hill too hard your feet will come over your head. that's what happened to me when I started trying them. If you don't throw you shoulder hard enough then you will kinda do a bio which will still be cool. Try them in powder first. And if you do your 5's by landing them looking at the ground by your tips instead of behind you, you will probably not be able to get flat 5's because it's harder to come out of being flat.

 
just throw a backflip but to the side, thats the easiest way

k i just realized that a rodeo 3 IS a flatspin and a flatspin isnt like lying on the ground and going in a circle your more inverted than that cuz i do them all the time

Um its not a spin, that would be a cork. A spin on yoiur side is a cork, a flatspin is a flip, just lik a rodeo is more of a flip and just like a lincoln is a flip. a flat is a sideways backflip.

Here gores my best picture. Imagine that the skier is wearing a rag. The rag points staight down the whole time and becomes the axis of rotation. Kinda of odd but it helps you visualise it.

 
yknow how a flatspin is kind of a backflip on its side? well what if u threw it forward? i can do it on the trampoloine and its like laying onure side and running backwards so ure head goes first....i can do it in 5 adn 7. is that a trick?
