I was thinking of buying the fks 140 but was wondering if i broke the brakes is there a company that sells replacements for the new ones. jw since you always see threads of ppl looking for brakes

If you buy the new FKS then you just buy new ones from your shop.If you get the old ones, I think the brake is a little different, or you can pay some rude amount to Rossi/Look for one.

so ur saying the ski shops sell replacement brakes for the new ones. just asking since my shop does not sell fks. and if u can buy brakes online, what r some sites

You can buy replacement brakes - Rossi sell the whole plate + brake bit. But, as far as I know, only for the new FKS.

the brakes are the same - new and old. you can buy them, but you have to take the binding off the ski to replace them.

I've bought two sets from Look. Rossi sell them too. Or just buy old turntables on eBay for $10 for parts.

all the parts on the old and new ones are the same and interchangeable

i just talked to rossi and they sell replacement baseplates but you have to send your bindings in and they change them for liability reasons

if you have to take the binding off the ski, when u go to put it back on will it go in the same holes or in otherwords will it ruin the interity or structure of the ski

do u think it would be better to get the marker jesters since3 it would be easier to get replacement or are the fks worth the hassle

Well, I prefer the Rossignol Heel piece over anything else, but for the reasons you mentioned, I won't buy them. I am in the process of putting inserts into all my skis, and since you can't swap FKS brakes, because you can't buy them, I would be hard pressed to make that work.

I like the Jesters, because they have the same lifted spring as the Rossignol PX series, but Marker Royal bindings are stupid when it comes to forward pressure, and I do not like plastic bindings. Far too much of the Jester is constructed of plastic.

Soo... in my PERSONAL opinion, what works for me, is the Head/Tyrolia Mojo/Peak series. I have the 15dins on my lizzies, cuz they are a little lighter and the din adjusts from 5-15 so I can let people borrow them, and I have the 18s that I swap between everything else. They are burly, they are metal, and other then the FKS, they are, in my opinion, the best bindings money can buy. Plus, the 15 din version shows up on Steepandcheap every once in a while for under 125 bucks.

No way your gonna find a pair of FKS or Jesters for that!
