FKS wide brakes

So here's the deal, I have a pair of look tt08 (fks style heel, 360 degree turntable), but the brakes are at 75 or 80 and my skis are 90 mm at the waist. The shop that I brought them to (ski market) wont bend the brakes because of liability issues (they dont want to break it and have to buy me new ones), but since it is a relatively old binding, they dont have any of the brakes on hand. Does anybody know where I can get wide brakes for these? Or does anybody have any? I know the ski tech is on NS, maybe he'll see this and give me his 2 cents. Maybe I should bribe him to bend em for me

if i am not mistakened there is only the one size brake for the fks heel and bending is the only way to make them fit.

bend them. my friend and i both bent ours out last night to fit our bacons. bending was relatively easy the assembly was the difficult part.

yeah my shop told me they were just going to cut ours off if they were going to put on bacons for us and so we figured might as well try to bend them. if it works it works and if they break then we dont have to spend extra for them to cut them... you can always use a leash.

i've gotten really good at bending them, you could send them to me if you want but no guarantees that they won't break, it's pretty iffy with themi've bent them for hellbents, bacons, and tahoes and they haven't broken but if they're the tt08's they might break easier because the metal is brittle from being older

Sign a waiver at the shop. Even if it's something you write up yourself stating you don't hold them in any way liable for any fuckup.

Why would they cut them off? Thats stupid. Just mount them in the up position. Or bend them. Bring em a sixer or something. Any decent tech would do it for beer.

First off, good techs are getting harder and harder to come by. Second, fewer and fewer shops will work for beer and accept a waiver. Lastly, I'm assuming you're riding the fks because you require a higher DIN. Your ski is less likely to come off w/ a higher DIN - cut em. Had to do it on my ARGs. The brake is hardly long enough after you bend it around to effectively stop your ski - especially in powder.

Um...he isn't riding ARGs, he needs 5mm extra on each side.

Bend them, it's easy.

I'll also do it for you if you ship them to me.

Those are close enough that you could practically force them on by hand. 5 mm is TINY. You can easily bend those out without even taking the brakes off the binding. Just be careful and patiently bend them wider. I have a pair coming and that's what I plan on doing, almost the exact same problem you have. I've done it before for my JJ's too. That required some more work since I had to heat them up and move them out, but I didn't even take them apart. You can even mount them to a 2x4 so that you don't have to take them apart. Lots of ways to go about this.

I don't have time to look for it, but a friend of mine found a thread on TGR about bending them to fit a pair of Gotamas.

Sorry about the post - I thought your ski was much fatter. 10mm total is not easy, but doable. Good luck.

I've only put them on either an ARG or PC/AR6 and now THall. It either fits very well or not at all. I cut the brakes on teh ARG where it just wouldn't fit at all.
