hey guys, quick question about some of this year's FKS 180s
I know that they are known for their reliability and strength, as well as some other things, but mine have felt a little sketchy.
my toe released its DIN completely a few weeks ago, dropping the marker all the way out of the window, which i did not know about until i pulled my ski off in midair doing a mute grab.
Also, both of my heelpieces have a fair amount of vertical movement; i havent measured, but by feel i would say at least 5 mm. this is pretty sketchy because when i hit jumps i can actually feel the ski bouncing around on my foot.
Im using dalbello boots that i used last year too, they might just be too worn down in the heel...
basically im just wondering if anybody has had any of these problems, and if so, how did you fix them?

Thanks, and as always, +K to all legit answers

Take them to a tech. /Thread.
If you have to ask these questions your not going to be able to fix them safely with adivce given over the internet.

check your forward pressure, it might need to be tightened a couple quarter turns.

Are you within the first 2 marks on the wormscrews that adjust forward pressure? Sounds like your close to maxing them out.

i think im right on the second little hash marks.
but the forward pressure line is right where it should be, the back of the white part is lined up with the notches in the plastic plate.
is that right?
also, used a legit jig, not the sticker jigs that come with them.

How worn are the heels? Assuming they are adjusted and mounted correctly and not broken, the heel/toe lugs gotta be worn. My old rampages wore out verrrry fast. Good thing they are replaceable.

so i just checked my boots. the very end of the heel is pretty worn, but the main part of the boot that actually stands on the heel piece just isnt that worn, from what i can tell. ill check em out tomorrow though.
what about the toepiece? that happen to anybody else?
im thinkin maybe just try to see if they can be warranteed, but i was given them, so i feel kinda bad about not loving these bindings right now, even though its about my safety.

Being safe is number 1, esp when it comes to your knees! Email rossi and they will be able to help you out more!

Forward pressure has nothing to do with this. He said the din indicator on the toe reads below the minimum. Common sense would dictate that there is something wrong with the toepiece, not the heel or boots.

i did however, also say that my heel has about 5 mm of movement when im clipped in, which is enough to notice in the air. these two issues are not related.

With the toe piece thing the indicator switch is connected to the

bottom of the screw which actually tightens the pressure in the

binding. So if the switch is beyond the bottom that means that the

screw in the actual toe piece has become disconnected. That is not an

easy thing to fix. I've only had this happen on rental bindings at the

shop before and we had those warrantied, these are consumer so that

will probably not be the case for you, sorry.

With the heel piece there could be a couple things wrong, what you should do to inspect it is give it the ole pull test. Snap the boot in the binding vice the ski to a shop table stick something that resembles a baseball bat in the boot and wedge it forward. Look at the heel piece and inspect the three hinges the actual heel piece, the hinge towards the ski and then the actual screws at the mount of the heel. That should help you figure out the problem.
